DE Legislature Attempts Disasterous Healthcare Overhaul in Wake of ObamaCare Ruling

A new bill recently proposed in the Delaware legislature is threatening to implement a single-payer healthcare system that will destroy private health insurance, raise taxes, and drive away jobs and businesses in the First State.  In the midst of a potential ObamaCare failure in the Supreme Court, this bill would essentially work towards effectively socializing medicine in Delaware.

Obama Seeks to Send Another Boat-Load of Money to the States – Especially Blue

Democracy and Power 103:  Government moneyIn general, the art of government consists in taking as much money as possible from one party of the citizens to give to the other. – Voltaire (1764)The money taxed and spent by the politicians comes from the labor and ingenuity of millions of working persons.  Politicians spend other peoples’ money.  Politicians then transfer money from productive people to special-interest groups.

Senator Alexander and Pryor's Cover Bill for the Utility MACT

As we close in on the vote on Senator Inhofe’s CRA legislation, S.J Res. 37, which will determine the future of coal in America, a sudden, last minute  alternative has been proposed by Senator Alexander (R-Tenn.) and Senator Pryor (D-Ark.).  Rather than address EPA overreach, proposed legislation merely extends the compliance timeline.

One Myth at a Time..."Those Kids Can't Learn."

On Wednesday, I was a guest on a local radio show broadcasting out of Harrisburg.  During the 45 minute interview, I was to discuss school choice and why FreedomWorks is supporting vouchers.  Unlike many of the interviews I have done in the past, this one was downright hostile.  Not suspecting the amount of misinformation being spread about vouchers, I was caught off guard by a caller who took time to lash out about FreedomWorks stance on the issue.

The Facts Behind the Under-26 Mandate

The provision in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that requires health insurance companies to let children stay on their parents’ policy up to age 26, has recently figured prominently in the news. Most Democrats enthusiastically support it, and a few Republicans do as well, arguing that it has already helped 2.5 million young adults gain health insurance, and will “help” many more in the future.

Tell Your Representative to Sign Onto Letter Urging House Leadership to Continue Earmark Ban

Dear FreedomWorks member, As one of our million-plus FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to sign onto a letter by Rep. Sandy Adams (R-FL.) urging House leadership to hold firm on the earmark moratorium. House leadership placed a ban on the practice of earmarking bills at the start of the 112th Congress. Unfortunately, some members of Congress are calling on Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to restore earmarking in the 113th Congress. The text of the letter is as follows:

NH School Choice Bills Provide Prime Example for PA

As a vote on school choice reform looms closer in Pennsylvania, a potential school choice victory in New Hampshire is moving forward.  Two bills promising to provide tax credits to businesses that donate to nonprofit scholarships have been passed by both houses of the legislature.  Despite the governor’s "real concerns" about the proposed legislation, both bills have veto-proof majority support.  While opponents argue that these bills will take money ou

Wisconsin Recall: All About Taxes and Political Power

Democracy and Power 114:  The Power PlayersWho actually controls the force of government?   The politicians and interest groups control the American political process. The politician seeks power.  Special interest groups – big business, big unions, education, seniors, and a multitude of others - seek favors, tax breaks, subsidies, exclusive legislation, and the list goes one. Interest groups give enormous amounts of money to political campaigns and receive gigantic benefits in return.
