Harry Reid Holds NIH Funding Hostage

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) responded to a question about funding for children's cancer research by asking, "Why would we do that?" Republicans pounced on the remark as evidence that Reid cared less for sick children than for his own partisan position. While Reid tried to recover from the gaffe, what he says he really meant was just as bad, or perhaps worse: he wanted to fund cancer trials, but wouldn't unless the House accepted everything else he wanted. In effect, he is holding every program hostage until he gets his way.

EPA Launches “Feel Good” Tour to Promote the Death of Coal

Despite the fact that the majority of Americans oppose carbon regulation that will drive up the cost of energy, President Obama is determined to use the EPA to bulldoze any and all opposition to his reckless climate agenda.  The EPA will force states to figure out how to pick up the pieces and rebuild their electricity grids once the President’s death sentence for coal is implemented.   And if EPA doesn’t like whatever plan a state develops, the Agency will prescribe the poison and its dosage.

Government Shutdown: Hold the Line, the Media Wasn't Going to Like Us Anyway

As we spent the last few weeks chugging inexorably toward the Great Shutdown Showdown of '13, we were constantly warned by our betters in the GOP to avoid it at all costs because "ZOMG THE PRESS WILL SAY BAD STUFF AND...STUFF!" Those of is operating in a more reality-based corner of the planet asked ourselves, "When do they ever say anything good about us?" Ad then the crickets became rather deafening.

Seven Pictures from the WWII Memorial Shutdown

They don't call these men the "Greatest Generation" for nothing. They fought back the Nazis in Germany and defended their nation against the Kamikaze pilots of Japan. They weren't about to let a few barricades at their WWII Memorial stop them from paying tribute to their fellow servicemen who gave their lives for their nation.

Top 8 Ways Young Women are Hurt By ObamaCare

Cosmopolitan online magazine has published an article titled, “Top 8 Ways Young Women Benefit from ObamaCare” by Senior Correspondent for Kaiser Health News, Phil Galewitz. The misguided list seems to be a desperate attempt to get most young women (like myself) to act against their own interests by signing up for ObamaCare. Young women deserve to know the truth about their health care options.

Department of Education is 94 Percent Non-Essential Employees

The federal government is now into its second day of being shut down, which means different things for different people. For the average American, not much is going to change. However, there is one governmental department which touches many (too many, some would argue) lives: The Department of Education. The question is will a government shutdown really make a difference to the majority of American families who have school age children?

White House Bullies WWII Vets at Washington Memorial

With the shutdown in full effect, national parks and monuments are closed. You can't go to Yellowstone, and tours of the Washington Monument have been suspended. However, one monument in particular has been singled out by the White House to be closed, barricaded and guarded to make a point and an extreme one at that.

Four Occasions Republicans Worked with Democrats on ObamaCare

Senators John McCain and Tom Harkin kvetched on Friday that the Senate had become too partisan; Sen. Harkin warned in hushed tones that it was “very dangerous… every bit as dangerous as the break-up of the Union before the Civil War.” Presumably they were talking about conservatives who oppose ObamaCare.
