The RNC Diagnosis: Part 3 - Friends, Finance and Primaries

In developing the Growth and Opportunity Project's Autopsy of the 2012 election (pdf), the Republican National Committee correctly identified the reason for the party's loss, but failed to recommend a coherent strategy to reverse it.The report endorses primaries, campaign finance reform, and recommends various ways outside groups can get involved. Some of it's good, some of it's not so good, but in the end it's a half measure where a radical change is needed.

How Free Is Your State?

Now that America is guaranteed another three-and-a-half years of liberal leadership in the White House, individuals and businesses are eager to reduce the burden of government any way they can.

Buy Me Some Peanuts and Crackerjacks… And a Stadium

Corporate handouts are easily seen when it comes to national politics and legislation with huge subsidies going to large corporations such as Solyndra, General Electric and General Motors.  In the case of General Motors the government actually nationalized it!   But the handouts are more difficult to see at the local level.

Republican Senators that Have NOT Cosponsored Audit the Fed

Senator Rand Paul has reintroduced legislation to audit the Federal Reserve in the Senate. The bill, S. 209, currently has 24 cosponsors. This legislation is important because the people deserve to know who the Federal Reserve is bailing out behind closed doors. Here are the Republicans that have not cosponsored the audit the Fed bill yet. Please call them or tweet at them and politely ask them to cosponsor S. 209!

Teachers Union Tactics: Manipulating Instead of Educating

As a parent, I look forward to parent-teacher conferences.  Even if the news is bad, and sometimes it is, it’s better than the information I’m getting at home. The daily school conversation with my children usually goes like this - “How was school, what did you do today?” I ask.  “It was fine, I’m hungry,” is usually the response.  My children are typical, from what I understand, in that the only thing they will open up about are social issues; and even telling me about their social lives will sadly, most likely end during middle school.

Right-to-Work Takes Effect in Michigan

Union membership in America is at its lowest since the 1930s. Their members number 14.4 million members nationwide, but that number is shrinking, reducing their political clout.

State Of The News Media: On Life Support

This month, the Pew Research Center released its annual State of the News Media Report. The results are grim. The report portrays an industry that is calcified, monolithic and unwilling to overcome the bias that, like an aggressive form of cancer, is causing its death from the inside out. The mainstream media complex is clearly on life support. The opening of the report is devastating:

High-speed Fail

Just imagine it: Sleek bullet trains zipping up one coast and down the other at dizzying speeds, filled with lounging hipsters sipping macchiatos and listening to understated Scandinavian techno in pollution-free comfort. The way it’s been sold, high-speed rail sounds far superior to fighting traffic in a Kia or being sardined into an overbooked airplane.

The RNC Diagnosis: Part 2 - Get Out The Vote

In developing the Growth and Opportunity Project's Autopsy of the 2012 election (pdf), the Republican National Committee correctly identified the reason for the party's loss, but failed to recommend a coherent strategy to reverse it. President Obama won by defining his opponent in a negative way, and marrying modern technology with old-fashioned boots on the ground. Republicans can do those things even better than he did, but doing so will require radically reforming the party.
