NRSC Creates Blogger Outreach Position To Facilitate Communications

This week, the Republican National Committee released an "autopsy" on how the GOP lost the election in 2012 and where it can improve its branding going forward. William Jacobsen of Legal Insurrection noted that the 100 page report failed to mention New Media and bloggers as an opportunity to improve communications.

The GOP's Statehouse Advantage

It has been four months since the election and Republicans are still in a funk. Whether hanging out at CPAC, in the local GOP office or on social media, wherever two or more are gathered in the Elephant’s name, the mood is downright dark. If Dr. Roget released his thesaurus today, under “conservative” you’d find blue, bummed, crestfallen, dejected, despondent, disconsolate, glum, lugubrious, morose, pessimistic and woebegone.

2013 Budget Report Card: Rand Paul's Budget Still the Best

This week the House and Senate will likely vote on their budget plans, along with a few conservative alternative budgets. To help you see where each plan stands in terms of spending restraint and economic growth, we have put together our second annual "Budget Report Card", which rates each of the major plans according to various economic criteria. This year even Paul Ryan's House plan balances in 10 years, while Rand Paul and the Republican Study Committee plans balance in 5 and 4 years, respectively. The Senate Democrats' plan, unfortunately, never reaches balance.

How To Become a Target of the Media: Report the Facts

This is not a story about policy or legislation. This is a story about journalism, and the all too cozy relationship between 'reporters' and the public officials they're supposed to hold accountable. It's been two weeks since Democrat State Senator Ginny Burdick of Oregon was to have held a town hall to answer questions on the current legislative session.

Ohio Becomes Medicaid Expansion Twilight Zone

Ohio has become a Medicaid expansion Twilight Zone, as avowedly conservative Governor John Kasich works with progressive activists to deliver new entitlement benefits with money that doesn't exist. Ohio's press, which loves the idea of "free" federal funding through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), repeats pro-expansion falsehoods without a hint of skepticism.

FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe Debates Tea Party vs. Establishment on Fox News

Matt Kibbe appeared on Fox News Sunday on March 17 to debate Steve LaTourette, a former Republican Congressman who now leads the Republican Mainstreet Partnership. The debate centered around how the GOP can win elections in the future, and was a classic case of the Tea Party vs. the Establishment.  As host and moderator Chris Wallace stated, "CPAC highlighted the disagreement for the [GOP] to broaden its base."

The Continuing Resolution and Sequestration

Despite every attempt by congressional Republican leaders to preemptively surrender, the fight to get a sane Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund only the necessary parts of government is not over. Senate Democrats and the White House, not content with victory, are pushing for even more spending and taxes, giving reformers an opportunity.
