Albany's FreedomWorks manager trains group

BY Pete Skiba

ALBANY — Using the rules of a well-known leftist organizer can work just as well for organizations desiring to influence the government to stop taxing and spending, said Nan E. Swift, a campaign manager for FreedomWorks.“We don’t want anything. We want less. Less taxes, less government,” Swift said. “Alinsky understood how people worked. The rules reflect organizing principles that work.”

EDITORIAL: Washington will take care of you

Democracy and Power 103:  Government money In general, the art of government consists in taking as much money as possible from one party of the citizens to give to the other. – Voltaire (1764) The money taxed and spent by the politicians comes from the labor and ingenuity of millions of working persons.  Politicians spend other peoples’ money.

The myth that has plagued U.S. domestic policy

Last month, while visiting an Ohio manufacturing plant, President Obama touted the success of the $787 billion "stimulus" package that he and fellow Democrats forced through Congress back in February of 2009.  Speaking to residents of Mahoning Valley-- where the unemployment rate is 15.1 percent-- the President said:If the ‘just say no’ crowd had won out, if we had done things the way

Call Congress: Oppose the DISCLOSE Act

As you've probably read and heard on the news or talk radio, there is a bill looming in Congress that poses a serious threat to our freedom of speech, as protected by the First Amendment. H.R. 5175, the DISCLOSE Act, is the brain-child of Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D, MD-8), who as Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is tasked with getting Democrats elected to Congress. The bill is a clear partisan political tool that would further expand government's reach into Americans' daily lives by restricting political giving and involvement in elections.

A few thoughts about "stimulus"

The other day on CNBC, I saw Larry Kudlow discussing the Democrats’ desire for a second “jobs bill” – what they’re calling “stimulus” now that “stimulus” is known to be ineffective union-boosting pork. I sent Mr. Kudlow a few thoughts on the subject (and he was kind enough to respond that I was “dead right.") Here are those thoughts:

The FCC: Rhetoric vs. Reality

The Federal Communications Commission’s new scheme to regulate the internet provides yet another example of a government agency desperately attempting to seize power. This has become such a common occurrence in government operation that it rarely even makes the news anymore. But, this power grab still ought to be treated as an affront to competition and the free market—even if this has become a norm. Below, I have attached the video of Julius Genachowski announcing FCC’s new plan.

Tea Party groups call for sponsors to drop Hardball following Chris Matthews' ‘left-wing hit piece’

BY Alex Pappas

A coalition of Tea Party groups is slamming MSNBC’s Chris Matthews for his “left-wing propaganda hit piece” documentary on the Tea Party movement and is calling on sponsors to drop his show. MSNBC aired “The Rise of the New Right,” hosted by Matthews, Wednesday night. The National Tea Party Federation, a broad coalition of Tea Party groups that offer rapid response to attacks on the movement, condemned the documentary as “journalism at its worst” whose “purpose was to demonize and misrepresent.”
