Issue Analysis

The Tax That Nobody is Talking About (Except Ron Paul)

If there is one topic that has animated the Republican presidential debates this election cycle, it is the economy. Americans are dissatisfied with the economic policies of the current administration which have failed to alleviate unemployment and stimulate palpable economic growth. Consequently, Republican candidates are proposing alternative solutions to the economic woes the country currently faces. One specific aspect of these solutions concerns tax policy.

Keystone: Obama’s Re-Election Gambit Endangers America

Democracy and Power 107:  Counting votes Successful … politicians are insecure and intimidated men. Florida's Personal Injury Protection Law: How a Government Mandate is Bankrupting the Sunshine State

No-fault/Personal Injury Protection (PIP) laws are a prime example of the danger posed by the substitution of free market mechanisms for government mandates. In states with PIP laws on the books, the costs of insurance premiums are skyrocketing and rampant fraud and abuse of the system is to blame. PIP laws were put in place to protect the consumer but in states like Florida, consumers are faced with ever increased premiums to account for the impact of fraud on the system.

SOPA and PIPA Would Destroy Internet Freedom

Two pieces of dangerous legislation are currently being debated in Congress that could forever change the Internet: the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA). The proponents of these harmful bills claim that it is necessary to stop online piracy, the illegal sale and/or distribution of copyrighted and trademarked products on the Internet.
