Responsibility Amidst Profligacy

Recently, President Obama called for the elimination of the alternate engine program for the joint strike fighter (JSF) program in an effort to cut back on defense spending. In this era of fiscal irresponsibility, the Obama administration has made a decision that is finally in the interest of the American taxpayer.

Government Trickery becomes Mendacity

Democracy and Power 108:  Obfuscation  Wherever politics intrudes upon economic life, political success is readily attained by saying what people like to hear rather than what is demonstrably true. Instead of safeguarding truth and honesty, the state then tends to become a major source of insincerity and mendacity. – Hans F. Sennholz

CPAC 2011: Highlights from the Intern

Highlights of CPAC 2011: The Intern’s point of view:Youth: I was struck by how young the crowd was.  I guess I was expecting a bunch of old men in very dark and dull suits.  Nothing could have been further from the truth; the crowd was filled with young men and women, all excited, all extremely well read and all extremely knowledgeable on the issues.  They were loud, motivated, an organized.Diversity: Wow!  Much to the “left’s” disappointment the diversity of CPAC 2011 on all fronts was astounding.  The conference

Democrats' only idea for job creation: spend more money

In an article published by The Hill earlier today, Alexander Bolton observes one of the major dilemmas facing Democratic lawmakers in Washington DC.  Put simply, Democrats don't know how to create jobs without spending massive amounts of money.  In the article, Bolton quotes Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) who admits that his party is struggling to come up with a job-creating legislative agenda: I don’t know what we’ll do next.

Key Vote No on Extending Higher Levels of Trade Adjustment Assistance

Dear Senator, On behalf of over a million FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to vote NO on extending Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) at the current, higher post-stimulus levels.  It should be noted that our objection is not to the Andean Trade Preference Act itself, the trade deal to which Democrats are trying to tie to expanding TAA.  Free trade is a core part of free markets, which we support.  Rather, the February 12, 2011 expiration of several expansions of TAA provides an opportunity to prune some excessive government spending.
