Kerry-Lieberman Wrong (Again) About Cap and Trade

There is rejoicing in the Kerry-Lieberman camp now that the Congressional Budget Office has alleged that over 10 years the cap-and-trade bill would reduce the federal deficit $19 billion over ten years.

Obama's CEO problem—and ours

A government with moral and legal authority promulgates written rules and universally, impartially and uniformly enforces the rules, which provides a predictable and stable legal order on which to base economic and personal decisions.  The law prevails, not the proclamation or arbitrary decision of a ruler, government bureaucrat, the enforcer (e.g., policeman) or judge.

We Hold These Truths to be Self-Evident…

This past weekend marked the 234th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  And while much has changed since the signers met in secret to dissolve the bands that tied them to England, their words are as true today as they have ever been. The preamble to the Declaration states:We hold these truths to be self-evi

FreedomWorks Launches TruthInJobs.com to Expose the Unintended Consequences of Government Intervention in the Job Market

Washington, DC- Today, liberal rhetoric collides with reality in the June jobs report, released this morning by the Labor Department. After a 16 month long federal spending spree, the total number of jobs in June 2010 lays 2.4 million below the number of jobs reported in February 2009. Over all, the nation lost 125,000 jobs last month. With these statistics, it is safe to announce President Obama’s plan to “create or save 3 million jobs over the next two years” through the use of an $800 billion stimulus bill, a colossal failure.

Surprise: Democrats offer more government intervention in place of needed financial reforms

In this morning's Wall Street Journal, John Taylor, an economics professor at Stanford University, writes about the massive 2,319 page financial reform bill which is currently working its way through Congress.  The complexity of the legislation is but one of its many problems.  Taylor writes:The main problem with the bill is that it is based o

Conservatives continue fight against government takeover of healthcare

Yesterday, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) announced their support of two discharge petitions which would repeal President Obama's healthcare reform legislation.  The first petition, brought forth by Congressman Steven King (R-IA), repeals portions of the legislation and replaces them with alternative ideas.  The second, introduced by Congressman Wally
