Senate Vote-a-Rama - See How Your Senators Voted on Key Amendments Here!

Last Friday, the Senate voted on dozens of amendments to their budget resolution before eventually (narrowly) passing the budget itself. This frenzy of amendments, known as a "vote-a-rama", gave many Senators a chance to force their colleagues onto the record on many key issues that have not come up for a vote in the Senate in years.Among the most important (and revealing) votes were on Medicare reform, internet sales taxes, ObamaCare repeal, carbon taxes, and Senator Rand Paul's budget plan.

100 Pages That Say Nothing

I imagine I'm like many of my peers and despite November election results, I was hoping that the GOP might learn a lesson or two and adjust accordingly. I was skeptical, but hopeful nonetheless. Then the 100 page report happened and confirmed what I knew in my gut - the GOP hasn't learned one damn thing.  And so, my list of grievances. Were I in D.C., I'd nail them to door of the GOP headquarters in the most theatrical way possible, but I digress.1. Why was Reince re-elected?

Stanford Kills Popular Course on Free Market

Universities have long been considered hotbeds of liberalism. Radical protests, dreary PC speech codes, far-left professors and outright attacks on conservatism are not just common but expected. Academia has become so stridently left-wing, faculty views even a single ember of center-right thought as a dangerous wildfire.

Fallacy Friday: Debunking Arbitrary Increases in the Minimum Wage

Fallacy Friday: Raising the Minimum Wage In and of itself, the idea that raising the minimum wage somehow benefits the working class is a form of the classic broken window fallacy.

Earth Hour and the Anti-science Left

Saturday night, millions of people around the globe will turn off their lights from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. to honor Earth Hour. Since 2007, environmental activists have promoted this Gaia-appeasing sacrifice to conserve energy and raise awareness about apocalyptic climate change.

State Cigarette Tax Hikes Totally Earning Cash; For Other States.

Years ago, Illinois decided that smoking was bad for its citizens and put a cigarette tax into place thinking they'd do two things: one, break the people who live there of a nasty filthy habit that was shortening their lives and keeping the Democratic politicians who cared about their fragile health up at night, and two, raise a little cash for a state that is so far in debt California won't be seen in public with it anymore.

Tell your senators to support the Alexander-Vitter Amendment No. 523 to Eliminate an Obamacare tax and Repeal the Wind PTC

Dear FreedomWorks member,As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact both of your senators and urge them to support the “Alexander-Vitter Amendment No. 523,” to the Senate Budget Resolution, S.Con.Res. 8. Introduced by Senator Lamar Alexander of Tennessee and Senator David Vitter of Louisiana, the amendment would make ending the harmful medical device tax of Obamacare and repealing the wasteful Wind Production Tax Credit (PTC) a priority of the Senate Budget Resolution.

More Layoffs For Environmental Project That Received $2 Billion in Stimulus Funds

Despite having received nearly $2 billion in stimulus funding, contractors at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation cleanup project in Richland, Wash., have consistently hemorrhaged jobs over the past couple of years as taxpayer dollars dried up, and companies had to return to more realistic budgets.  And while this has been a consistent pattern established for years now, a new round of a couple hundred layoffs at the site is being attributed to - you guessed it - sequestration.

The Importance of Pop-Culture in the Fight for Liberty

There is a tremendous amount of money, time and effort spent on promoting political ideas through think tanks, political action committees, cable news stations and a myriad of other sources. Billions are spent on elections, and woe betide anyone unfortunate enough to live in a swing state, doomed to unrelenting robocalls and political advertisements for months on end.
