Washington, DC –Today FreedomWorks, a grassroots frontrunner in the fight to block health care exchanges around the country, applauded Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett for his hard-hitting decision to decline a state-run health care exchange in Pennsylvania.
President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner are currently negotiating a deficit reduction deal to stop the sequester “cuts.” The main fight is over Obama’s proposal to raise federal income taxes on Americans making over $250,000 a year. While Boehner claims he is opposed to raising the top two income tax brackets, some worry that he will accept a bad tax-hiking deal in order to stop the sequester.
Monday, the AFL-CIO sent an email calling for candlelight vigils. These vigils were to be held at the offices of Republican Congressional representatives nation-wide. "Working families will make clear we need to protect Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits, and we won’t sacrifice our security so the richest 2% can get more tax breaks," the organizing site explained.

The U.N. treaty may sound well-intentioned but it would erode U.S. sovereignty and hurt families with disabled children.
