Support the Health Freedom for Seniors Act

As one of our more than 6.9 million FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your representative today and ask him or her to support the Health Freedom for Seniors Act. Introduced by Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.), the bill would allow seniors currently forced to take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from their retirement accounts (IRA, 401(k)s, etc.) to instead roll that amount tax-free into an existing Health Savings Account. The Health Freedom for Seniors Act will expand the use of HSAs and increase an individual’s power over their own health care decisions.

The Battle for Internet Freedom Is Not Over

On February 26th, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), acting under the direction of President Obama, will vote on a 300-plus-page rule regulate the internet in much the same way it currently regulates utilities. The FCC’s new powers will be broad, and mark an end to the decades of unregulated internet service that has proven to be the greatest source of economic growth and innovation the world has ever seen. That the Commission will vote to pass the rule is all but a certainty.

How Government Ruined Your Kids' Textbooks

Common Core education standards have attracted criticism from across the political spectrum due to lack of choice and competition inherent in a top-down, federal mandate. Students succeed when parents and teachers have flexibility to tailor their education programs to individual children, celebrating rather than ignoring their differences.

Tell Your Members of Congress: Support the Smarter Sentencing Act

As one of our more than 6.9 million FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your representative and senators today and ask them to support the Smarter Sentencing Act and to co-sponsor the bill if they have not already done so. Introduced by Senators Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) in the Senate (S. 502) and by Congressmen Raúl Labrador (R-Id.) and Bobby Scott (D-Va.) in the House (H.R. 920), the Smarter Sentencing Act would “focus limited federal resources on the most serious offenders.”

Common Core Is Costing Us Our Best Teachers

The United States education system is home to many thousands of teachers. Some are good, some are less good, and some stand head and shoulders above the rest, setting an example in educational excellence that others can only hope to achieve.

Successful conservative reforms could be coming to the federal prison system

Political pundits and the media like to tell Americans that there's no hope of President Barack Obama and Republican-controlled Congress getting anything done. They're too far apart on almost everything, the talking heads say. This is certainly true on some big issues, but there are other areas emerging for which there is broad support on Capitol Hill and in the White House. Among these is criminal justice reform.

The Internet: 5 People to Decide Its Future!

Personal Freedom and Prosperity 110: The Rule of Law A government with moral and legal authority promulgates written rules and universally, impartially and uniformly enforces the rules, which provides a predictable and stable legal order on which to base economic and personal decisions. The law prevails, not the proclamation or arbitrary decision of a ruler, government bureaucrat, the enforcer (e.g., policeman) or judge.
