Support the Guidance Out of Darkness (GOOD) Act, S. 2296 and H.R. 4809

On behalf of our activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and representative and ask them to support the Guidance Out Of Darkness (GOOD) Act, S. 2296 and H.R. 4809, introduced by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Rep. Mark Walker (R-N.C.). The bill would require federal agencies to post regulatory guidance documents online, making them more accessible to those businesses affected by the guidance and to the American public generally.

“Unjust, Cruel, and Even Irrational”: Stacking Charges Under 924(c)

“I think the stacking issue is a problem...I would support reform of the stacking provisions somewhat like you have it in the bill today.” - Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), on the Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act, October 22, 2015

Issue Analysis

Expansion of the Federal Safety Valve for Mandatory Minimum Sentences

The Sentencing Reform Act and the Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act offered several modifications to federal sentencing laws. Although these bills did not go as far as the Smarter Sentencing Act, introduced by Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), they were improvements over the status quo.

When It Comes to 5G, Beating China Shouldn’t Mean Becoming China

In response to the recent report by Axios regarding rumored Trump administration plans to nationalize the 5G wireless network as a counter to China’s capabilities, FreedomWorks is strongly opposed to nationalization of ANY industry, let alone one so integral to the future of America’s economy. FreedomWorks stands in firm agreement with the statement offered by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai opposing any plans to nationalize the 5G market.

Happy National School Choice Week!

“And at the U.S. Department of Education, Common Core is dead.” This is music to the ears of advocates for federalism, school choice, and, frankly, for student success everywhere. These words came directly from U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos last week at a conference in DC titled “Bush-Obama School Reform: Lessons Learned,” held by the free-enterprise think tank American Enterprise Institute.
