Dear FreedomWorks member, As one of our million-plus FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your senators and urge them to vote oppose ratifying the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).While the Senate recently voted to not ratify the CRPD, the U.N. treaty is far from dead— Senate leadership has already pledged to bring it to another vote at the beginning of the 113th Congress. The U.N. treaty may sound well-intentioned but it would erode U.S. sovereignty and hurt families with disabled children.
Key Vote NO on Extending the Transaction Account Guarantee Program
Dear FreedomWorks member,
As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your senators and urge them to vote against S. 3637, the bill to extend the Transaction Account Guarantee (TAG) program. Introduced by Senator Harry Reid (D-NV), this bill would extend full loan guarantees to all bank accounts that do not earn interest.
Last week, after Right-to-Work passed in Michigan, many were celebrating workplace freedom in the historic union stronghold. Some, however, were less than thrilled. Take, for example, Michael Moore, hypocrite extraordinaire who took to Twitter to express his displeasure.
Taxpayers Funded 73% of All New Jobs Created in the Past 5 Months
Police in Michigan turned aside oganized labor violence on Thursday as opponents of workplace freedom tried in vain to intimidate lawmakers in their workplace. The Michigan Senate passed Right To Work legislation, which goes to the House for a vote on Tuesday.Ironically, the agents of forced unionization claim that Right To Work (RTW) laws endanger employee safety. RTW laws, which defend the right to be secure in a job without being forced to pay union dues, do not affect employee safety. The kinds of work people do in the states that happen to have chosen workplace freedom allow unscrupulous people to offer misleading statistics.
Coalition Letter: Taxpayers Won't Harvest Farm Bill Savings
What should Congress do on the Fiscal Cliff? 1) Lock in $1.2 trillion in ten-year sequester savings. 2) Extend ALL current tax rates for one year. 3) Reform taxes and entitlements to avert another debt downgrade. Questions?
P.S. From now on, every debt ceiling increase should be offset by an equivalent amount of spending reductions, in the same bill. No more kicking the can down the road!
That is all.
Democracy and Power 101: Government is PowerThe essence of government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse. —James Madison, Speech in the Virginia State Convention of 1829-1830
So, you didn't win last week's Powerball? I didn't either, which is why I'm writing blog posts instead of designing a helipad for my new private island.
I was surprised to see even my most cynical friends succumbing to lottery fever in a bad way. Though usually shrewd with their finances, they couldn't resist throwing a few bucks at a gas station attendant for that infinitesimal shot at half a billion dollars.
