New Year brings life and death tax decisions

As of yesterday, the first day of 2010, the death tax -- which can erase nearly half of a wealthy person's estate when he or she passes away -- has disappeared for one year.  According to an article printed in the Wall Street Journal, this change has made trying times all the more difficult for families facing end-of-life decisions.  In the days leading up to the New Year, Joshua Rubenstein, a lawye

Told ya so: Nelson admits Dems want Nebraska bribe for everyone

As I predicted a week ago, the Democrat’s budget-busting socialist big-picture plan to have a full government takeover of medicine, with Senator Ben Nelson’s (D-NE) bribe as the camel’s nose under the tent, is coming to light.

Protesting By Candlelight

With less than a week of planning, on a bitterly cold December night, just hours before a Christmas Eve vote, some 40 diehard activists made their way, candles and signs in hand, to Senator Webb's office in Northern Virginia. They hand-delivered letters from friends and neighbors, sang songs to keep warm, and passed out cookies and hot cocoa, while the evening traffic rolled by and drivers honked their support. All to oppose a health care "reform" bill that is rife with political favoritism, unfunded liabilities, and constitutional relativism.

Health Care Battle: What Can I Do This Week?

Even though Congress isn't in town this week, and many people using these normally carefree days between Christmas and New Year's to spend time with family and recharge batteries for 2010, we're hearing from many folks who want to continue the fight against the government takeover of healthcare right through the holidays!  Everyone is wondering, what can I do this week?  Here are three things you can do to keep up the pressure:

The New American Capitalism

In 2008 and 2009, the Bush White House, the Obama White House and the Federal Reserve doled out over $2 trillion in taxpayer money in an effort to save failed businesses and to stimulate the economy.  In 2010-- the Wall Street Journal predicts-- the public will begin to understand how dramatically such efforts have changed the US economy.Only as the recession recedes will it become fully evident how permanently the state's role has

We have met the enemy; Tea Party II, here we come

It becomes clearer on a daily basis, from bribes to Senators to get votes to Pelosi’s refusal to let Republicans participate in a press conference in Copenhagen, that America is no longer a Republic, but a dictatorship, at least until the next election.

Help Stop Tax Hikes in Kansas

Barely a year ago, some legislators in Kansas tried to push through a whopping $0.75 per pack cigarette tax hike. Luckily, it didn’t pass. Even though Kansas already has some of the highest cigarette taxes in the region, the idea hasn’t gone away and Governor Parkinson is already eyeing a tax hike as he prepares his 2011 budget. That means he’s looking for funds to grow government; something Kansans can’t afford.

ObamaCare's budget trickery

Yesterday, President Obama asserted that Harry Reid's healthcare takeover bill is in fact deficit neutral:The argument that opponents are making against this bill does not hold water. But when he and other Democrats claim that the government takeover of the healthcare system will cost less than $900 bill
