Majority Leader Reid counts his chickens before they hatch

On Tuesday night, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) issued a press release in which he patted himself and his fellow Democrats on the back for having finally reached a "consensus" on healthcare reform:This has been a long journey.  We have confronted many hurdles, and tonight I believe we have overcome yet another one...

White House Bullying Congress into Cap and Trade

The EPA's findings on carbon dioxide earlier this week came as a surprise to few.  And the timing, in light of Copenhagen, couldn't be better for the Administration (sheer coincidence, we're sure).  Now it looks like the Administration isn't just going to bask in the sunlight of getting something done just in time for Obama's big speech in Oslo.  The White House is http://www.foxnews.com/politics

GOP Nomination Fight in Virginia's 5th District

As they survey the mood of the electorate and the results of a recent poll that found generic "Tea Party" candidates beating out Republicans in 2010, Virginia's Republican Party leaders must be getting pretty nervous. Especially in the 5th District.

Policy Implications of Climategate

With over 4,000 documents to sort through, it's certain that we'll continue to uncover gems like "I can't see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report, Kevin and I will keep them out somehow - even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature  is!" (email from Dr. Phil Jones to Dr. Michael Mann of the Pennsylvania State University on how to exclude scientists with whom they disagreed from the IPCC process).  Together, the Climategate files present a disturbing window into the climate change scientific community, a place where:

CBO to Millions of Americans: If you like the coverage you have, you can't keep it

On July 21st, President Obama made a promise to the American people.  In a televised speech, the president gave us his word:If you like your current plan, you will be able to keep it.  Let me repeat that:  If you like your plan, you'll be able to keep it.Now, however, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has revealed data that suggests that Mr.

President Obama's plan to "spend our way out of this recession"

This morning, President Obama held a press conference to outline his second multibillion dollar stimulus proposal.  Unlike the administration's $787 billion "stimulus" bill which has fallen short of its goal to "save or create" millions of jobs, this proposal aims to really "save

Rasmussen: Tea Party Tops GOP on Three-Way Generic Ballot

In a sign of bad news for both political parties, a new Rasmussen Reports “generic ballot” poll shows “Democrats attracting 36% of the vote. The Tea Party candidate picks up 23%, and Republicans finish third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided.” At the same time, the generic ballot question without the “Tea Party” option continues to show a substantial GOP advantage.

Jobs and Afghanistan draw attention away from liberal agenda

Recent events have necessitated that the Obama White House shift its focus from the push for healthcare reform to the war in Afghanistan and the millions of jobless Americans.  But at what cost does this change come?  With the healthcare reform bill slowly moving through the Senate

President Obama to discuss job creation

After the ever-rising unemployment rate skyrocketed into double digits in October, doubts about the Obama Administration’s ability to cope with joblessness grew.  Such worries intensified when it was revealed that estimates of nearly one hundred thousand of the jobs supposedly “created or saved” by the $787 billion stimulus package were http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/jobs-s
