California Frackin’

West coast cool, steady electricity, clean beaches, and Jeeps cruising down Pacific Coast Highway ; is it all just California dreamin’? The potential for reliable energy in the Golden State along with clean beaches and palm trees exists, by allowing hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, for natural gas.

That Which is not Seen: The Hidden Evils of the Minimum Wage

“Between a good and a bad economist this constitutes the whole difference – the one takes account of the visible effect; the other takes account both of the effects which are seen and also those which it necessary to foresee.”~ C. Frederic Bastiat, 1801-1850

Shale Natural Gas: The Energy of the Future?

This April, the US Energy Information Administration released the 2011 edition of its Annual Energy Outlook. The report contains the EIA’s predictions of future energy supplies, prices, and regulations. Perhaps the most important piece of information that came from the report was the rapid growth of shale natural gas as a viable energy source. Shale natural gas is natural gas which is trapped in large underground shale formations.

EPA Regulators Should Not Hide Behind Children to Push for Costly New Regulations

WASHINGTON, DC- On June 8, 2011, the Senate Subcommittee on Clean Air and Nuclear Safety and the Subcommittee on Children’s Health and Environmental Responsibility of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works held a joint hearing on, “Air Quality and Children’s Health.” Unfortunately, the hearing was little more than an attempt by the Democratic majority to build support for the Obama administration and the EPA’s push for costly new regulations.&nbs

House GOP pushes to slash federal workforce

Democracy and Power 102:  Voters are rationally ignorant  Tragically, the vast majority of the voters are rationally ignorant of most government actions.  The vast majority of the public is ignorant of bills, legislation, regulations and taxes that will ultimately affect their lives.

Young Americans Protest the Federal Reserve

Over the past few years, we have seen a renewed interest in the role of the Federal Reserve. Rep. Ron Paul’s (R-Texas) presidential runs, along with the financial meltdown have directed much needed attention to the central bank. The American people are finally waking up to the giant elephant in the room—the Fed—which bears significant responsibility for many of the financial crises over the past century.

Our Big Fat Greek Bailout

“Keynesians of the world unite” should have been the slogan for the meeting held on Tuesday between President Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.  Obama knowing full well that the economy is not doing well has decided to pin the blame on what he calls foreign headwinds.  These foreign headwinds Obama is referring to is the current economic situation of G

Democrats Trying to Force a Stalemate

Democratic lawmakers fear the possibility of a Supreme Court ruling declaring the individual mandate illegal and therefore enabling a possible full repeal of the Obama Health Care Law. In response to their fears that conservatives hold a 5 to 4 majority on the Supreme Court at the moment Democrats are attacking the one Justice they feel is vulnerable, Justice Clarence Thomas. Democratic lawmakers are trying as they have done in the past, to sway Justice Thomas by attempting to create a conflict of interest where one does not exist.

Atlas Slugged (FreedomWorks) Achieves First Victory of the Summer

Going into the top of the sixth inning FreedomWorks’ softball team, Atlas Slugged, held a tie score nine runs apiece with the opposing ACLU, a team entering the game with a an undefeated five win season. The ACLU could not withstand the pressure applied by Atlas Slugged and gave up six runs in the top of the inning. FreedomWorks staff was able to stand tall and hold their opponents to a meager two point inning in return; giving us a lead we would not lose.
