Key Vote "No" S. 2123: the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2007

On behalf of hundreds of thousands of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to vote “No” on S. 2123: the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2007.  Rather than upholding the rights of states and municipalities to enact their own laws as the situation warrants, this legislation preempts the authority of local government by forcing them to negotiate with labor unions representing public safety officers over the terms and conditions of employment.

Backlash Grows as Congress Moves Toward Housing Rescue

As Congress moves to aid distressed US homeowners, the prospect of a new rescue is drawing fire from a diverse array of activists, economists and consumers opposing what they call a bailout. The House of Representatives on Thursday approved a bill to create a 300-billion-dollar federal guarantee for new mortgages for people who may be at risk of losing their homes. President George W. Bush threatened to veto the measure, calling it a reward for speculators and lenders.

Starvation only the latest good argument against ethanol

For various reasons, people on both sides of the political aisle, though more Democrats than Republicans, have supported America's ethanol policy...a policy which is not just silly but also dangerous. There's been a lot of press lately about food shortages in the third world caused in part by America and Europe's ethanol policy, but that's only the latest reason to oppose ethanol subsidies and mandates.

FHA Reform, Housing Stimulus Package Passes House

BY Kerri Panchuk

U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass, managed to get a controversial foreclosure prevention act passed during a House vote on Thursday. The bill, which will supply an additional $300 billion in funding to support more FHA-insured loans for struggling borrowers, has been praised for some if its initiatives and criticized for relying too heavily on taxpayer funds. President George W. Bush and other politicians took issue with the bill earlier in the week, saying it contains provisions that will help irresponsible lenders and borrowers on the backs of American taxpayers.

NC FreedomWorks Victorious In Land Transfer Tax Defeat

For the second election cycle in a row, North Carolina FreedomWorks activists were active and victorious against land transfer taxes!   In November, 16 counties balloted a land transfer (home) tax.  FreedomWorks was on the ground in a majority of those counties.  All land transfer tax initiatives failed! In the May 6 primary, 4 counties balloted the land transfer tax.  FreedomWorks engaged in 3 of those 4 counties.  November repeated itself with all land transfer tax initiatives failing!

The Solution to Expensive Gas: Make it More Expensive!

Congressional Democrats have been keying into the country's rising gas prices, attempting to use them as a political issue. Take a look, for example, at Hillary Clinton's recent speech in Indiana, in which she mentions the cost of gasoline at least three times.

FreedomWorks North Carolina Defeats Tax Hikes Across the State

FreedomWorks North Carolina used grassroots politics and a targeted mail, email and phone campaign to defeat four proposed tax hikes on the ballot in Orange, Gates, Ashe and Tyrell counties Tuesday. In the most liberal county in the state, Orange County, FreedomWorks was able to win a landslide 66 to 33 percent victory. Local activists led the campaign by organizing town hall meetings, handing out voter education cards and going door-to-door to tell voters to oppose the land transfer tax.
