Key Vote YES on the Regulatory Accountability Act, H.R. 5

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your representative and urge him or her to vote YES on the Regulatory Accountability Act, H.R. 5, introduced by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.). The legislation seeks to reform the regulatory process, making it more transparent for the American people and more accountable to Congress. It also includes language to reverse the Chevron deference, which has been used by regulatory agencies to enact law without judicial review.

REINS Act Adds Teeth to the Congressional Review Act

On Thursday, the House of Representatives passed the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, H.R. 26, by a vote of 237 to 187. Spending, Debt Levels in ObamaCare Repeal Resolution Send a Terrible Message to Fiscal Conservatives

The Senate didn't waste any time when it convened at the beginning of the 115th Congress. The chamber moved quickly on a motion to proceed on the FY 2017 budget regulation, S.Con.Res. 3, which begins the process of repealing ObamaCare. The resolution directs two Senate committees -- Finance and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions -- and two House committees -- Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce -- to begin work on repeal legislation through budget reconciliation.

Congress Should Use the REINS Act to Combat the Regulatory State

In the Broadway musical-turned-movie, 1776, John Adams ranted to the Second Continental Congress that it had stalled his proposals for independence from King George III and Great Britain. Delegates, even those who wanted a diplomatic solution to rather than war, blasted King George for running roughshod over the rights of colonists, restricting trade, and taxing them without representation in parliament.

Support the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, S. 16

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and urge them to cosponsor the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, S. 16, introduced by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). This important piece of legislation would require a full audit of the Federal Reserve by the Government Accountability Office. FreedomWorks has already released a letter of support for the House version of the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, H.R. 24, introduced by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.).
