Time's Up

It’s time to send a serious message. Not just to the politicians in DC, but also the moneyed interests behind the scenes, the powerful trade groups, the economically ignorant, and those who would rather feed off the productive than produce themselves. Time’s Up.

A Modest Proposal For A Proper Shutdown

America deserves a strong leader during the government shutdown, not one who merely allows us to stumble along, doing whatever we want in the middle of the greatest crisis of all time. President Obama should take the threat to his credibility seriously, and not allow Americans to lose sight of the central role of government in their lives.

The Republican Revolution: A Future For Liberty and Youth

It's no secret that former Texas Congressman Ron Paul, has had a tremendous influence on young Americans. His message of fiscal responsibility and promotion of civil liberties is loud a clear. The youth are ready to bring real reform to government and are trying every way possible to influence their representatives, but where do they have the most influence? The Ron Paul Revolution, which started as a small, yet powerful, idea has sparked an even bigger reform: the transformation of the Republican Party.

Big-Tent Libertarianism is Trending: Is Freedom the New Black?

It hasn't always been cool to be freedom-minded. I'm not saying that this is entirely the fault of freedom, but throughout most of my childhood (and well into my adulthood), I can honestly say that liberty hasn't had great PR.

Protect Citizen Journalists

Citizen journalists are under attack by Chuck Schumer, Lindsey Graham, and other members of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The dynamic duo of progressivism has attached an amendment to Senate Bill 987, which would give the Department of Justice power to determine who qualifies for protection as a journalist under the First Amendment.

Syria, the NSA, Obamacare, and Impeachment

In every one of these situations: the push to attack Syria, the NSA spying on citizens, funding and implementation of Obamacare; proponents want to allow the government to do something it should not do, but claim we will be able to stop it if it goes any further. That thinking is backwards. The way to stop the NSA from gathering citizens' data, to keep the attack on Syria from escalating, and to stop Obamacare, is not to allow them to get started (funded) in the first place.

Flashback: The Founders on the Necessity of a Free Press

With Congress attempting to define journalism again, it seems like a good time to revisit the whole "free press" thing. Understanding why the founders thought a free press was essential ultimately helps us determine whether federal overreach into protected liberties is appropriate. In 1799, James Madison explained:
