The disconnect between Washington and middle America has gained a lot of prominence recently. President Donald Trump has gained a lot of attention with his campaign pledge last year to “Drain the Swamp” of corruption, so there has been a lot of desire to increase accountability in Washington. Trump Administration and Congress Are Changing the Regulatory Mindset

Recent headlines out of Washington paint a depressing picture. Of course, this isn't anything new, just different names and reversed roles. However there is something different going on these days and Americans ought to look beyond the salacious headlines. If they do, they'll see swamp water beginning to swirl down the drain, as the Trump administration and Congress are making historic progress against decades of job-killing regulations.

Democrats Are Trying to Repeal the Tool Congress Has to Hold the Regulatory State Accountable

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) have introduced legislation that would repeal one of the tools that give Congress greater oversight of actions taken by federal agencies. House Must Repeal the Durbin Amendment in Financial CHOICE Act

There has been much debate over the past week about the Financial CHOICE Act introduced by Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas). The Mayor of Baltimore Kills Job Killing Minimum Wage Hike

On Friday, March 24, Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh vetoed a new $15 minimum wage that would have been implemented by 2022. This makes passing the measure’s future in serious doubt since an override of the mayor’s veto requires 12 out of 15 city council members to vote against and already several who voted for the measure have decided not to support an override.
