Key Vote YES on Paul Amendment to the FY 2017 Budget Resolution

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and urge them to vote YES on the amendment offered by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), S.Amdt.1, to the FY 2017 budget resolution, S.Con.Res 3. Spending, Debt Levels in ObamaCare Repeal Resolution Send a Terrible Message to Fiscal Conservatives

The Senate didn't waste any time when it convened at the beginning of the 115th Congress. The chamber moved quickly on a motion to proceed on the FY 2017 budget regulation, S.Con.Res. 3, which begins the process of repealing ObamaCare. The resolution directs two Senate committees -- Finance and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions -- and two House committees -- Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce -- to begin work on repeal legislation through budget reconciliation.

FreedomWorks Praises Adoption of the “Holman Rule” by the House of Representatives

FreedomWorks today praised the inclusion of the “Holman Rule” in the rules package that passed the House of Representatives Tuesday by a vote of 234 to 193. The provision, which is effective only for the first session of the 115th Congress, allows Members to introduce amendments to appropriations bills on the floor of the lower chamber to reduce the size of a federal agency’s workforce or adjust compensation for certain federal employees, who, according to a 2015 study by the Cato Institute, earn an average of 78 percent more than workers in the private sector.

The Right Way to Spend on Infrastructure

Back in early 2015 oil and gas company Conoco-Phillips requested a permit from the Obama administration to launch an oil drilling project in Alaska. The energy project, called the Greater Moose’s Tooth Development, is located within the National Petroleum Reserve and would create thousands of jobs in an economically depressed area of the state. The project has the full approval of the local community, and poses little threat to the environment in a sparsely populated region.
