Atlas Shrugged Part III is in Theaters Today!

Doctors forbidden from treating their patients as they see fit. Bankers forced to loan to those who cannot possibly pay their debts. Teachers prevented from inspiring and motivating students due to government standards. Does this look like an accurate description of 21st century America? It’s also a description of the world Ayn Rand feared and predicted more than half a century ago. For over fifty years, a silver screen adaption of one of the most powerful, prescient, and influential novels in history has eluded Hollywood. But no more.

"The Giver" Brings New Life to Themes of Liberty

The Giver, a Walden Media film adaptation of the classic book by Lois Lowry, depicts a totalitarian society in which all societal memories of love, hate, compassion, violence, art, music, and even color, have been suppressed, stored only within the mind of the titular character in case of emergencies. When a young man, Jonas, is selected to be his successor, he realizes what society has lost in its attempt to create Utopia.

Mark Udall wants feds to get YOU in shape!

A lot of important things were happening in 2008. Banks were failing, jobs were being lost, and our economy was about to be pushed off a cliff. The problems our country faced in 2008 were grave, and have had lasting consequences even to this day. Luckily, while voters, politicians, and pundits wasted their time trying to select new leaders of government to tackle these problems, then-Congressman Mark Udall saw something different. In the midst of economy downturn, Congressman Udall and his taxpayer-funded congressional staff felt the best use of their time and resources was to write a bill to get Americans to stand up and actually do something! Literally, something—anything actually that made a person sweat. And they wanted the government to design a program and devote resources promoting it.

The Tea Party Movement Turns Five

Happy Birthday to the little movement that could. Ignited by a spark from the most unlikely of places-a cable business news channel watched mostly by investors-and spread by social media, a surprising revolution had its most humble beginnings five years ago today.

Ironman Athlete Collecting Worker's Compensation

A recent report out of Mesa, Arizona demonstrates the inevitable negative consequences of supposed problem-solving government programs. Audrey Glemba, a 49-year-old triathlon runner, became a medically-retired police officer collecting worker's compensation for an injury she claimed prevented her from working. Taxpayers in her city are now paying her $508 a month, in addition to medical retirement benefits.

72 Years Ago Today

Doris “Dorie” Miller was a Mess Attendant working on the USS West Virginia. Like most mornings, he rose before dawn for a dreary day of hauling trash, scrubbing dishes and prepping food for the battleship’s cook. While collecting the crew’s laundry, the General Quarters alarm sounded. Ships have drills all the time — even on Sunday mornings — but a sailor still must answer the call.
