Why we Need to Fight the Teachers Unions, from New York to Pennsylvania

It is a truth universally acknowledged that parents and teachers want children to receive the best education they can possibly have, yet this universally acknowledged truth is sadly incorrect. There are certainly some teachers who wish to impart knowledge to their students and prepare them for a successful and fulfilling life; Teachers unions, however, are preventing this fundamental goal. American public schools continue to produce students who continue to fall further behind their peers in other industrialized countries.

What Is Broken Will Not Work

Informed, true grass-roots activism is how America will take its first steps toward change, but unions using individuals in Astroturf protests will only maintain the ineffective and harmful status quo. It is no secret that public schools across the nation are producing more and more ”drop-out factories”. The state as well as the student is harmed. High school dropouts from the class of 2008 will cost the state nearly $8 billion in lost wages over the course of their lives . Pennsylvania is no exception.

"The Cartel" America Cannot Afford

Last night, I had the privilege of watching the documentary, “The Cartel” which chronicles the failures of New Jersey public education system.  The film takes a hard look at just how bad the system is doing.  In one scene of the film we are told that New Jersey spends more money then any other state in the union but produces some of our countries worst results.  Following this scene the viewer is introduced to wide range of issues facing the New Jersey school system.  After seeing these horrible statistics you are introduced to a Representative from the NJEA Teachers Uni

Urge PA Lawmakers to Vote Yes On SB1

Today, the Pennsylvania Senate Appropriations Committee is voting on Senate Bill 1, the "Opportunity Scholarship and Educational Improvement Tax Credit Act."  Senate Bill 1 will allow students from failing and often violent schools the opportunity to pick the school of their choice regardless of zip code.  SB1 will grant low-income children in low-achieving schools a scholarship to attend a better public or private school of their choice without raising taxes or spending more money.

"Waiting for Superman", an "Inconvienient Truth"

“Waiting for Superman”, an “Inconvenient Truth”The truth hurts, sometimes the truth is so “Inconvenient” and Hollywood is having none of the truth.  Last night the groundbreaking, jaw dropping devastatingly sad and absolutely truthful film “Waiting for Superman”, directed by Davis Guggenheim (the liberal director of “An Inconvenient Truth”) was not nominated for an Oscar.  Five gripping documentaries were nominated for the big prize; they included: Restrepo, Inside Job, Waste Land, Exit Through the Gift Shop and Gasland.  All of these gripp
