State of the Union? Nothing socialism or the Messiah can't fix!

Let’s start with the good part of President Obama’s State of the Union speech last night, since that’s a much shorter task: He said his administration has “identified $2 trillion in savings over the next decade.” (A decent start against the $3.25 trillion he just spent in one single piece of legislation, but just wait until he tries to gore the sacred cows of members of Congress.)

Stop New Gas Taxes in Oregon

Oregon’s Governor Kulongoski just proposed a new increase in the gas tax, along with other hikes in vehicle titling fees, and annual registration fees.  The Governor says that his tax and spend plan is “the way to get Oregon out of this economic crisis.”  It’s hard to think of a time when spending money and taxing people more helped anyone in an economic crisis.  This kind of idea hasn’t worked at the federal level, and it won’t work in Oregon.
