Key Vote "No" H.R. 415: a bill to designate the Taunton River as "Wild and Scenic"

On behalf of hundreds of thousands of members nationwide, I urge you to vote “No” on H.R. 415, a bill to designate the Taunton River as “Wild and Scenic.”  Far from being a bill that encourages responsible conservation, this is a misuse of legislation to impede energy and economic progress.

Key Vote "No" H.R. 6346: Federal Price Gouging Prevention Act

On behalf of hundreds of thousands of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to vote “No” on H.R. 6346: the Federal Price Gouging Prevention Act.  The bill, a shallow attempt to rein in gas prices, is eerily reminiscent of the very policies that led to shortages and gas lines in the 1970s and early 1980s.  That was a time when government tried to tamper with a market not at the source, where Congress could encourage more exploration and utilize the vast resources available, but at the pump where retailers have very little control over the end price.

Key Vote "No" S. 3036: the Lieberman-Warner "Climate Security Act"

On behalf of hundreds of thousands of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to vote “No” on S. 3036, the Lieberman-Warner “Climate Security Act.”  The Act, which proposes to curb greenhouse gases, would significantly hamstring the economy of the United States by burdening taxpayers and risking thousands of jobs as our global competitiveness vanishes under a flood of regulations, taxes, and higher costs.

Key Vote "No" H.R. 6049, the Energy and Tax Extenders Act of 2008

On behalf of hundreds of thousands of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to vote “No” on H.R. 6049, the “Energy and Tax Extenders Act of 2008.”  H.R. 6049 extends more than 30 provisions in the tax code, many of them having to do with energy policy.  The bill attempts to cover the costs of the extensions by raising revenue through changes in the tax law relating to deferred income and the worldwide allocation of interest.  Yet, on net, the legislation generates roughly $2 billion in new taxes.

Key Vote 'NO' on HR 5351, the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act

On behalf of hundreds of thousands of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to VOTE NO on H.R. 5351, the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act.  This legislation is simply another attempt to saddle domestic energy suppliers with costly new taxes that will increase prices for consumers.  Specifically, H.R. 5351 contains $18 billion in new taxes and does nothing to increase domestic production and lower overall energy costs.

FreedomWorks Applauds New Energy Development in the Chukchi Sea

As auctions begin on oil and natural gas reserves in the Chukchi Sea, America should reaffirm its commitment to keeping energy affordable and accessible to all. With gas prices reaching skyward and economic instabilities making headlines, increasing U.S. energy production capacity is a vital step toward keeping the country competitive and productive. Right now, the U.S. is the world's 2nd largest natural gas producer and 3rd largest oil producer. But demand is on the rise. Even now, the U.S. is unable to meet current demand for natural gas.
