Opt Out of Entitlement Programs

Entitlement programs are on the fast track to bankruptcy. Social Security and Medicare—the nation’s two largest entitlement programs—will run out of funds sooner than previously expected. Social Security faces a $45 billion deficit this year and Medicare’s trust fund for hospital insurance will completely run out of funds by 2024.

Debt, Spending and Mendacity

Democracy and Power 108:  Obfuscation  Wherever politics intrudes upon economic life, political success is readily attained by saying what people like to hear rather than what is demonstrably true. Instead of safeguarding truth and honesty, the state then tends to become a major source of insincerity and mendacity. – Hans F. Sennholz

Democrats Plan To Have No Plan

If we do not act now, the failure of leadership by President Obama and Democrats in Congress will lead our Medicare system to certain bankruptcy. We can save Medicare for current seniors and make sure it's around for our children and grandchildren by supporting Representative Paul Ryan's plan.In his "Path to Prosperity," Rep. Ryan has laid out a plan to save Medicare by creating a patient-centered system for seniors that gives them more choices for their health care while reining in exploding costs.

Beware of the Grand Bargain

Democracy and Power 107:  Counting votes Successful … politicians are insecure and intimidated men. They advance politically only as they placate, appease, bribe, seduce, bamboozle or otherwise manage to manipulate the demanding and threatening elements in their constituencies.

Discovered: An UNLIMITED Obamacare Slush Fund

Just when we thought there were no more brazen audacities left to report about in Obamacare, here comes a doozy.    House Republicans have uncovered, tucked away in Section 1311(a) of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), an UNLIMITED Obamacare implementation slush fund. That's right.  Unlimited.

From "Billions to Trillions": Why This Week's House Budget Vote Is So Crucial

This past month's government-shutdown fight pales in comparison to the longer-term budget fight ahead.   In the words of a leading congressional budget-cutter, House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin), "We must now move from saving billions to saving trillions." Ryan is right.  The national debt is skyrocketing at the rate of: • $200,000,000 ($200 million) an hour • $30,000,000,000 ($30 billion) a week • $120,000,000,000 ($120 billion) a month • $1,600,000,000,000 ($1.6 trillion) a year
