Key Vote "No" on Slaughter Rule/Senate Bill; Key Vote "No" on Reconciliation Bill

Dear Representative:                                            As the House majority decides how it will proceed with health care legislation against bi-partisan opposition, I thought you might find these two quotes from the early days of our nation enlightening:“If ever the free institutions of America are destroyed, that event may be attributed to the omnipotence of the majority.”

The myth of inevitability

As Congressman Paul Ryan noted on Fox News a few days ago, part of the Democrats' strategy to pass health care "reform" is to overstate the number of votes they have, trying to particularly pressure freshman and sophomore congressmen to be "on the right side of history." I had an interesting conversation with Human Events reporter Connie Hair -- she of the endless energy and commitment to her conservative principles -- in which she made a few key points:

Mitt Romney's achilles heel

As Obamacare hurtles toward possible (probable?) passage, national revulsion against the cost, intrusiveness, and impact of government-run health insurance poses a serious threat to the presidential ambitions of Mitt Romney. Romney, as governor of Massachusetts, was responsible for implementing Commonwealth Care, the closest thing in the nation to Obamacare.

Slaughter Rule Has Become a Constitutional Question Mark...

The recently proposed “Slaughter Rule” specifies that the House can pass a Senate bill as well as a bill amending it, with one vote. The Senate then votes only on the amendatory bill relayed from the House. After this process, the bill is declared as passed. However, this means that the House and the Senate wouldn’t have passed the same bill, which as critics are beginning to point out, is a legislative requirement, as stipulated in the Constitution.

People's Surge Update, No Reconciliation Over 190,000

By best accounts, over 5,000 activists from around the country stormed the Hill this morning to visit their representatives and urge them to vote No on ObamaCare.  I know that many others who couldn't make the trip to DC yet again were with us in spirit and have been making phone calls, writing letters, and sending emails.

March 16 Update

By now you should have heard all about the People's Surge Against ObamaCare 2.0 on March 16.  If not, go here to get caught up. Tuesday looks like it will be a nice 64 degrees and partly cloudy, great protesting weather.  Bring yourself, a friend or five,  and comfortable walking shoes - we have alot of ground to cover.

No Reconciliation Petition Tops 100,000!

Just a bit ago, I wrote that we broke 95,000 - that number has been left in the dust as the No Reconciliation petition has garnered over 100,000 signers!

No Reconciliation Petition Over 95,000!

FreedomWorks "No Reconciliation" petition has garnered over 95,000 signatures!  Urge your friends to sign today to help us push past 100,000 who oppose ramming this legislation through Congress. Still, it's starting to look like using the nuclear option isn't the only trick up Pelosi's sleeve.
