What about tort reform?

When examining the health care bills proposed by Congressional Democrats one cannot help but to notice the absence of meaningful tort reform--reform of frivolous medical malpractice lawsuits.  Acknowledging the need for tort reform in his joint session address to Congress, President Obama pointed to malpractice lawsuits as a factor that "may be contributing to unnecessary costs."  An article in this morning's Washington Examiner takes

Better without Baucus

For today’s reading, allow me to suggest my article at HumanEvents.com regarding the true likely effects of Senator Max Baucus’ “reform” blueprint: See “Better Without Baucus“, Ross Kaminsky, Human Events, 9/13/09http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=33935(My agreement with Human Events does not permit me to repost the text of the article here...)

The truth about the Baucus Bill

On Sunday, October 11th, the Washington Examiner ran the first half of a two part editorial entitled, "The Truth About the Baucus Bill."  The two articles investigate the recent release of the CBO's assessment of the Baucus health care reform bill.  Among other things, the first piece states that: ...two words in the CBO statement-- "Preliminar

Have you seen this healthcare bill?

Brian Darling of the Heritage Foundation writes: As you read this, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and officials of the Obama administration are in a room at the Capitol rewriting health care policy. The American people aren’t invited. Only a few lobbyists, Obama czars and liberal Senators have even been allowed to see this bill.

When it comes to health care, personal responsibility is the Safeway

This morning, an interview on National Public Radio revealed-- yet again-- that the private sector is far better equipped than government bureaucrats to deal with today's toughest challenges.  In his conversation with NPR's Renee Montagne, Steve Burd, CEO of one of America's largest grocery store chains--Safeway-- explained the steps that his company has taken to lower health care co

Generation Why?

To the surprise of absolutely no one, the Wall Street Journal noted last week that members of so-called "Generation Y" are heavily in favor of President Obama's proposed health care reform, despite the fact that they will be the ones left to deal with the fallout from long-term cost overruns and degraded quality of care.
