Dear FreedomWorks member, As one of our million-plus FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your representative and ask him or her to sign onto a letter by Rep. Sandy Adams (R-FL.) urging House leadership to hold firm on the earmark moratorium. House leadership placed a ban on the practice of earmarking bills at the start of the 112th Congress. Unfortunately, some members of Congress are calling on Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to restore earmarking in the 113th Congress. The text of the letter is as follows:

After a long weekend of learning how to be a better activist and learning how to continue grassroots movements in their perspective states, patriots from different states in the nation were so passionate about the cause that on Monday afternoon once the training sessions were formally over they took to Capitol Hill to lobby. The activists were led through the senate buildings by some staffers and interns from FreedomWorks and given information and talking points about the Utility MACT and S.J. Res. 37.

Res. 37, a joint resolution to disapprove of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Utility MACT rule under the Congressional Review Act (CRA). Introduced by Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), this resolution will stop the EPA’s new costly regulation that will have devastating effects on American industries and will increase energy prices for American consumers.

Under Harry Reid’s leadership, the Senate has not passed a budget in over three years. Passing an annual budget for the federal government is a fundamental responsibility of Congress. Sens. Toomey, Paul, and Lee have introduced fiscally conservative budgets that contain much-needed reforms and will significantly cut the national debt.
