Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: The TSA’s Misapplication of the Precautionary Principle

In the wake of tragedy of 9-11, the American people feared terrorists would take away their freedom. The greatest threat to freedom was the voluntary surrender of freedom for the sake of government-provided “protection”. This “precautionary principle” has been used by Big Brother to say “governments should implement regulatory measures to prevent or restrict actions that raise even conjectural threats of harm to human[s].” In essence, this principle claims overprotection causes little to no harm.

Letter of Support for the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act

July 16, 2013  Dear FreedomWorks member, As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your Representative in Congress and tell them to support the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act (H.R. 1900). Nothing to Hide, Something to Fear

Washington doesn’t have the right answers because they ask the wrong questions. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) last month demonstrated a lack of understanding of America’s constitutionally protected rights when he nonchalantly explained he is “glad” that the government was spying upon Americans. Graham explained that if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. However, the American people have a lot to fear from politicians ask who defend tyranny above the right of the people.

Marine Returns Fire In Obama's War on Coal ... In Song

Marine veteran, Jimmy Rose, hit the stage last week for a performance on the hit show America's Got Talent, belting out an original country tune that eloquently humanized an industry that has been a way of life for his family and friends. The song was titled, Coal Keeps the Lights On. By singing about keeping the lights on, Rose cast a spotlight on the Obama administration's War on Coal, and by extension, a war on the very types of people Rose is singing about.

Let My Appliance Go: Rethinking Government Efficiency Standards

While Washington’s political elites use popular buzzwords like government “efficiency” standards, these are only an attempt to place a positive spin on expensive regulations. In their recent plan, the Obama White House proposed even higher efficiency standards. While increasing the Department of Energy (DOE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) appliance efficiency standards sound promising, the policy is riddled with problems.

From Twinkies to Obamacare, a Rough Time for Unions

To the chagrin of Michael Bloomberg and Michelle Obama, America's favorite cream-filled snack cakes are rolling off the assembly line. After a union standoff drove Hostess Brands out of business, new owners purchased the company. They hired a non-union staff and are now sending Twinkies to retailers from coast to coast.

Capitalist, Christian, Libertarian... Farmer?

While the battle in Congress rages on over the Farm Bill, and the partisan divide widens over just who should get the most taxpayer funded welfare, I have been living a rather interesting life in direct contrast to all that the Farm Bill represents.

NSA Domestic Spying: A History of Abuse

Whistleblower Edward Snowden brought warrantless wiretapping to the forefront of national conversation by exposing the National Security Agency surveillance of the American people. While  many  Americans  are outraged at the NSA’s unconstitutional actions, few realize the extensive history of NSA’s spying policies. Since President Truman established the NSA in 1952, the agency has grown in both power and technological capabilities, enabling them to spy upon Americans without consent or probable cause.
