Regulation: A Wind to Our Back or A Wind to Our Face?

Is this spike in job growth a sign that businesses are hopeful for the economy under the Trump administration? According to the May 2017: ADP Employment Report, the private sector added 253,000 jobs in the month of May, up from 174,00 jobs added in April. Small businesses account for one-third for the workforce creating 83,000 new jobs last month with increases in construction, education and health, and professional business services.

Boeing Doesn't Have a Case Against Bombardier

Boeing, the very same company, that received a whopping $7.4 billion in long-term loan guarantees from the Import-Export bank in 2014 recently submitted a formal U.S. trade complaint against Bombardier, a Canadian aircraft company on May 18 for its unfair trade practices. The pot calling the kettle black is an understatement when referring to Boeing’s complaint against Bombardier.

The Regulation Madness is Coming to an End

The Obama administration was riddled with regulations and red tape that put federal oversight on everything from ponds to bathrooms to cow flatulence. In fact, President Obama reached a record high number of pages in the Federal Register (the federal journal of regulations) during his last full year in office.

Key Vote NO on Sponsor, Cosponsors of S. 1297

On behalf of FreedomWorks’ activist community, I urge you to contact your senators and urge them to oppose S. 1297, introduced by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.). This bill would make Title VII of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) permanent, including the controversial surveillance programs under Section 702.

Internet Got Faster Without Net Neutrality

Net Neutrality proponents argue that internet service providers (ISPs) will slow your internet speed and charge you extra fees if the FCC abandons its Title II regulatory expansion. Wrong. This goes against every ounce of recorded history, which shows that speeds increase and prices decline, and have done so without Title II.

It’s Time To Hold Senator Warren Accountable For Not Understanding Education Economics

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren recently announced “DeVos Watch,” aimed at Department of Education (DOE) Secretary Betsy DeVos to “ensure that the Education Department acts in the public interest.” Essentially Warren is on a higher ed-focused crusade against DeVos’s deregulatory policies under the banner of people shouldn’t make money off of students. The brutal irony of Elizabeth Warren, who made $430,000 to teach a single class at Harvard, “championing” education affordability and accountability is but a tragic indicator of how much her agenda lacks economic reasoning and sincerity.

Getting Rid of Comey Is Only the Start

Today, President Trump announced his choice for the new leader of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). While his choice of candidate has generally been well received by commentators on both side of the isle it is unlikely he will implement the needed reforms to the FBI. While Jim Comey and the FBI have been grabbing headlines over the past year, few pundits, or politicians are seriously talking about the true threat surrounding the national police force.

Repeal the Davis-Bacon Act

Many states have been discussing ways to pay for road funding. Now, there are two ways to make something affordable. One way is to increase revenue and the other way is to drive down costs. It has been suggested to take a look at replacing the gas tax to be able to afford road funding since the revenue brought in by the gas tax is on the decline while road coasts are increasing.
