Tell Your Representative to Support the SKILLS Act

Dear FreedomWorks member, As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your Representative and urge him or her to support the “Supporting Knowledge and Investing in Lifelong Skills (SKILLS) Act”, H.R. 803.  Introduced by Rep. Virginia Foxx (NC-5), the bill would streamline the wasteful network of federal job training programs and give states more control over how the money for these programs is spent.

Freedomworks Issue Analysis: Marketplace Fairness Act

The Marketplace Fairness Act would allow the states to compel online retailers to collect taxes on remote sales, increasing the cost of doing business and damaging competition unfairly. The Act places burdensome administration costs on some of the country's most innovative retailers, regulating them in a way that is at once discriminatory and harmful to economic growth.

Labor Relations in the United States and the National Right to Work Act

Earlier this year, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced the ‘National Right-to-Work Act,’ a bill which would amend the National Labor Relations Act (also known as the Wagner Act) with the goal of preserving and protecting “the free choice of individual employees to form, join, or assist labor organizations, or to refrain from such activities.” According to the National Labor Relations Board, “Congress enacted the National Labor Relations Act…in 1
