Key Vote: See How Your Representative Voted on the Continuing Resolution Here!

Today the House of Representative voted to pass a $1.126 trillion Continuing Resolution (CR) without any extended debate and without allowing any amendments to be offered. This was a tremendous abrogation of regular order in the budget process which has been repeated multiple times over the years, and a sign that the leadership in Congress remains unconcerned about the tremendous deficit spending that has lead to our astonishing $16.6 trillion in debt.

Key Vote NO on the Continuing Resolution, H.R. 933

Dear FreedomWorks member, As one of our millions of FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to contact your Representative and urge him or her to vote NO on the Continuing Resolution, H.R. 933. Because the U.S. Senate has refused to pass a budget since 2009, the government has been funded through a series of Continuing Resolutions (CRs), which just continue spending at the levels approved under the last actual budget. Including “emergency” spending, this CR will still spend $1.126 trillion in 2013 even including the sequester “cuts”.

Iowa Lawmakers Propose Increase in Gas Tax

Lawmakers and lobbyists in Iowa are pushing for an additional 10 cent per gallon gasoline tax, on top of the 21 cent gas tax already in place. Raising the gas tax, especially in this stalled economy, would hurt Iowa families by forcing them to pay even more at the gas pump. This proposed tax would be particularly cruel since the average gas price in Iowa is a whopping $3.70 per gallon.
