I need your help to stop the state legislature from raising our income taxes by more than $1.12 billion! Raising taxes during a recession is terrible public policy and will not lead to long term economic growth. Only by reducing taxes and regulations, and making Oregon a more business-friendly state can we achieve the goal of real economic growth, and real prosperity for Oregonians.

Nevertheless, liberals in the Oregon Legislature and poised to ram through three different tax hike bills this week, carrying a total price tag of $1.129 billion!

• HB 2116 C - Creates a brand new tax on insurance premiums for small businesses and individual purchasers, and increases the tax rate imposed on hospitals. Total cost: $396.5 million.
• HB 3405 A - Increases the tax on Oregon businesses for the "privilege" of doing business in Oregon and increases the overall tax rate on Oregon corporations. Total cost: $261 million.
• HB 2649 A - Creates two brand new, highest-in-the-nation tax brackets at 10.8% and 11%. More than 70% of the individuals paying this tax will be small and family owned businesses.  Total cost: $472 million.

To stop this potentially devastating tax hike package, we need to focus pressure on Rep. Bob Jenson (503) 986-1458.  His vote will be key in determining whether these tax hikes pass or fail.  CALL REP. JENSON TODAY!

Lawmakers should cut wasteful spending, reduce taxes and regulations, and allow freedom to work.  The $1.12 billion-plus tax hike proposal would hurt taxpayers as well as small and family businesses.
