Kansas Cable Competition One Step Closer!

Email Alert! Subject: Kansas Telecom Reform Moving

By Brendan Steinhauser on February 22, 2006

SB 449 has passed out of committee... and now goes to the Senate floor. Because of YOUR hard work, Telecom Reform in Kansas is ONE STEP CLOSER!

The Kansas Video Competition Act--SB 449 passed out of committee today and will now go to the Senate floor for a vote. We need your help again to pass the bill out of the Senate! TAKE ACTION NOW!

SB 449 will break open the door to competition by modernizing existing law to encourage economic growth and allow new entrants into the marketplace. The bill seeks to promote growth and competition among all technologies and would specifically address the problem of costly and burdensome franchise laws that make it difficult for new providers to compete with local cable television companies.

If the bill passes, consumers will be able to take advantage of increased competition in the area of video programming: more choices...better service...competitive prices.

Please call your state Senator at 785-296-3966. Tell them that we need to pass SB 449now, so Kansas cable consumers aren't left behind.

Sincerely,
