Proposed Ozone Standard Could Cost Taxpayers Billions
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is considering a new ozone standard that would impose new regulations and mandates on energy production, while raising the price of energy for businesses and consumers.
For Tennessee this means increased pressure on the manufacturing sector, which could result in more plants shutting down. This puts Tennessee at a competitive disadvantage in the global marketplace as jobs and capital move overseas to more business-friendly countries.
In addition, such stricter standards would reduce domestic production of energy at a time of uncertainty in global energy markets. In fact, the new proposed standard is projected to cost from $10-20 billion each year, increasing the burden on a sector of the economy that is already over-regulated.
EPA’s proposed stricter ozone standard is bad for our country and bad for Tennessee, but you can do something about it. Contact Governor Phil Bredesen and ask him to publicly oppose this new mandate.
We need to create a massive outcry against this unnecessary, job-killing regulation and we need to do it now before it’s too late.
