New York state legislator Richard Brodsky is still pushing for aggressive regulation of the internet and he must be stopped. FreedomWorks volunteers have been actively fighting this idea, which would effectively "neuter the net." As this bad idea moves forward, we urgently need your help to defeat it!

<a href="http://capwiz.com/freedomworks/issues/alert/?alertid=9524176&type=ML... Action!

Brodsky's proposed legislation would not allow internet service companies to charge different prices for different amounts of internet bandwidth. This policy is misguided and clearly outside the scope of the state's role. The government should not be involved in the regulation of the internet, but should allow companies to compete in a free market, thus igniting the benefits of competition. Instead, Brodsky and his allies would neuter the net by stifling the technologies of the future that drive the broadband internet market.

We need to ratchet up our efforts to ensure that the internet is kept free of price controls on content. Aggressive action on this legislation is expected soon, so it is vital that we waste no time in sending a clear message to legislators.

Net neutrality, shrouded in a populist cry for freedom, is the first step toward greater government control over the internet that would limit consumer access. Regulating the pipes could chase away investors otherwise willing to build the networks of the future.
