Tell Governor Crist To Stop Pandering to Radical Environmentalists!
As you may know already, Florida Governor Charlie Crist has made a deal with radical environmentalists. Armey’s Axiom is “If you make a deal with the devil you are the junior partner.”
Under pressure from Al Gore and his liberal buddies in Hollywood, Governor Crist has issued three executive orders that would: force reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, impose California-style carbon dioxide motor vehicle standards and force appliances to meet certain “efficiency” standards. Crist is also “warming” up to the Europeans, inviting British and German officials to “discuss and promote initiatives that broaden the Kyoto Protocol and reduce the emission of greenhouse gases beyond 2012.”
To meet the goals of the Crist agenda, one of a few things needs to happen. 1) You can restrict how much energy people use – imagine being told how many miles a week you can drive or for how many hours a day you can have lights on in your house. 2) You can magically figure out how to power the entire state with wind, solar, or some other non-carbon emitting source – unfortunately, this isn’t the movies. The state of Florida derives 70% of its energy from fossil fuels that emit carbon. 3) You can impose drastically higher costs on things like power bills, automobile emissions inspections, energy efficient appliances, and what people pay at the gas pump, thus penalizing them for using energy and hoping they start to use less (the most likely scenario).
Embracing the climate change movement and driving up energy costs is fine if you are Leonardo DiCaprio or Sheryl Crow. Multi-millionaires can justify their liberal guilt by paying more to fuel their private jets and air condition their giant mansions. But what about hard-working Floridians whose family budgets are stretched to the limit because of high gasoline prices and skyrocketing home energy costs? For them, Crist’s mandates will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
Crist’s constitutionally questionable executive orders, which raise questions about abuse of power, not only hurt Florida’s families, but they would hamstring the state’s industrial output and threaten to devastate the economy. And for what? Even scientists that advocate restricting carbon output admit that if emissions were restricted world-wide along the lines of the Kyoto Protocol, it would only slow the rate of warming by .07 of a degree Celsius after approximately 100 years. Governor Crist’s policy prescriptions are all economic pain for no environmental gain.
TAKE ACTION NOW to tell Governor Crist and your state legislators to stop pandering to radical environmentalists!
Sincerely,
