Update on April 15th Tax Day Event!

By Brendan Steinhauser on March 17, 2010

We had our final logistical meeting with the National Park Service this morning about our April 15th event. Everything is good to go for the site. The location for the stage is Constitution Ave. and 15th St. NW, at the Washington Monument.

We will be adding more details to our website here. That being said, I wanted to post a few updates in this space as well.

Restrooms - We will have plenty of restrooms this time, and they will be available at all four corners of our event, which should make the lines more manageable than they were on 9/12.

Video Screens - We will have 3 video screens to help people see what's happening on stage. Thankfully there are fewer restrictions at the Washington Monument than there were at the Capitol building.

Sales - There is no selling of anything allowed on the NPS grounds during the event.

Volunteers - If you'd like to volunteer for the event, please contact Kahryn Rombach at krombach@freedomworks.org or 202-942-7616. We need about 100 volunteers to help us out with logistics and pointing people in the right direction. There will be a volunteer table for check-in the day of the event.

Buses - The best bus drop-off point is Independence Ave. between 15th and 17th Streets, just south of the Washington Monument. Please have buses park at approved locations in Washington.

Webcasting - We will be streaming the event live on the internet, using ustream. You can watch the event live from your computer from this portal.

Co-Sponsors - If your group would like to co-sponsor the April 15th Tax Day Tea Party in Washington, please contact Tabitha Hale at thale@freedomworks.org or 202-942-7615. Please send her your logo and your desire to join the event.

What to Bring - umbrellas, bottled water, bag lunches, lawn chairs, cameras, blankets, small coolers, backpacks, flags, signs

What not to do - don't litter; don't put any stakes in the ground;

Press - There will be a press check-in table at the event for all credentialed press and bloggers. Questions about this should be directed to Adam Brandon at abrandon@freedomworks.org or 202-942-7698.

Speakers - We will be posting updates on speakers here. Some of the speakers will include: Dick Armey, Matt Kibbe, Andrew Breitbart, Deneen Borelli and Tucker Carlson. As we add speakers and entertainers we will make changes to the website.
