Sebelius' budget team has Koch help

BY STEVE PAINTER

Seeking to fulfill her pledge to streamline government, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is getting an assist from Wichita's Koch Industries, whose corporate philosophy emphasizes limited government and free enterprise. Art Hall, a Koch economist, is leading the review that Sebelius told voters would yield hundreds of millions of dollars in savings for taxpayers. Hall and about 60 others churned out ideas in a frenzy of brainstorming after Sebelius won the election.

FROM 'HERO' TO 'ZERO,' TITLES DELUGE LEGISLATORS

BY ALAN BJERGA

WASHINGTON - Rep. Todd Tiahrt is a "Super Friend." Sen. Sam Brownback is a "Guardian of Small Business." Rep. Jim Ryun is a "Hero of the Taxpayer." These are only a few of the thousands of titles and awards that special interest groups shower on lawmakers each year to show their appreciation for the lawmakers' support.
