FreedomWorks Launches Nationwide “Tea Party” Tour

Activists from Coast to Coast Mobilize to Oppose Obama and Congressional Democrats’ Bailout Frenzy.

Protest

Washington, D.C.—FreedomWorks is leveraging its national grassroots infrastructure, a volunteer network over half a million strong, to launch a modern-day “tea party” protest movement our Founding Fathers would be proud of.

Last month, in a fit of rage over the talk of more government bailouts to include a new, massive housing bailout plan, CNBC’s Rick Santelli called for a taxpayer tea party in Chicago while reporting from the floor of Chicago Mercantile Exchange. From this desperate rallying cry FreedomWorks has tapped into the outrage building from within our own membership as well as allied conservative grassroots forces to organize a 25-city Tea Party Tour where taxpayers angry that their hard-earned money is being usurped by the government for irresponsible bailouts, can show President Obama and Congressional Democrats that their push towards outright socialism will not stand.

Even before Santelli’s rant FreedomWorks was priming the pump for an all-out taxpayer revolt.  In January, Chairman Dick Armey issued a “call to action” to all members urging them to call, write, and personally visit their legislators in the name of stopping the bailout train.  Then in February FreedomWorks Florida members organized a counter-protest to an Obama town hall event in Fort Myers promoting the wrong-headed stimulus plan.  As the idea for a tea party themed protest materialized, FreedomWorks was well-positioned to coordinate the national tour through its campaign website, IamWithRick.com.  True to its name, the site features the video of Rick on the floor of the Chicago Exchange and seeks to enlist concerned taxpayers to attend tour events.

Working with other groups and individuals within the free-market, limited government community, FreedomWorks has already coordinated 9 tour events in Washington, D.C., Sarasota, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Fort Myers, St. Louis, Atlanta, and Philadelphia in just the last week.  Hundreds of activists are turning out in droves to these protests and the media is already taking notice.  Stories referencing FreedomWorks’ Tea Party Tour have surfaced in The New York Times, AmericanDaily.com, MSNBC.com, and the nationally syndicated G. Gordon Liddy radio show.  Rush Limbaugh even referenced the tea party effort during his address at the annual CPAC conference in Washington, D.C.

In the coming weeks more events are planned in cities all over the country to include Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Saint Paul, Milwaukee, Charlotte, and Tallahassee to name several.  These events are not simply showcasing conservative ire, but recruiting volunteers to join the ranks of FreedomWorks as we march on to our membership goal of a million activists committed to liberty; a force capable of not only doing battle with the Left, but winning.

Sounds like the school systems will become a baby sitting organization. The parents will not be teaching their own children their family traditions. Traditions will be taught to the pre-schoolers by strangers. High school diploma | GED Online

I would like to take a second to spread the word on the upcoming Defend America rally. The focus is to draw attention to how the government has been whittling away at the Constitution. It’s very similar to the Tea Party, although it will involve a walk that begins at the National Archives building and ends at Upper Senate Park, where the rally will commence. The date of the event is Saturday, May 23 at 1:00 pm. We started something wonderful with the Tea Party. Sadly, the media is ignoring, denying or mocking our efforts. If we’re going to make ourselves heard, and we’re serious about demanding change, I believe we’ll need to take our message straight to Washington. More information is at defend our constitution dot org (minus spaces) Thank you.
how do I find Tea Party Events in OHIO ?
I would be happy to attend a protest in washington. dc I would take the day of two off and allow my employees to come with pay. the only way we will make a change is with enough people involved in a non- violent protest. I would expect that there will be those on the opposite side of this topic that will try to instigate violence to discredit our cause. lets become involved
Great news! Defend our Constitution is having a march on Washington on Saturday, May 23 at 1 pm. It begins in front of the National archives building and ends in Upper Senate Park. More information is at defend our constitution dot org (minus spaces)
Is it any Tea Party I and my friends can join in baltimore area?
April 15th at Noon there's one being organized in Annapolis - find out more at www.IAmWithRick.com
I am gratefrul for a group like this that allows "we the people" to make ourselves heard. The politicans we have elected can only hear their own voices. We need to hear more about the Tea Parties on the news channels.
I really like the idea of the Tea Parties that have happened & are slated to occur. In my opinion, what would be more effective, is one HUGE Tea Party held in Washington D.C. The idea of thousands of digruntled taxpayers descending into D.C. at one time is something I think would finally get the attention of the elected officials, both Dem. & Republican.
I agree with Hugh. Washington will take notice when Washington is forced to stop and see the opposition to this unashamed fleecing of the hard working people in America. Let's see how many DC tea parties can be organized.
You are absolutely right a concentration of forces. I was at Philly Tea Party on Feb. 27, with TCOT Group we had a very small showing, and while I was there found out about Freedom Works rally happening Feb. 28. My very first thought was why was it not combined.
