Support H.R. 3140 – REBOUND Act

July 15, 2009

Members of the 111th Congress
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Representative,

Writing on behalf of over 700,000 FreedomWorks members nationwide, I urge you to cosponsor H.R. 3140, the Reducing Barack Obama’s Unsustainable Deficit Act (REBOUND), introduced by Representatives Tom Price (R-GA), Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Scott Garrett (R-NJ).

As your constituents suffer through these times of economic hardship, they deserve a government that respects the time and effort required to earn each tax dollar and shares their commitment to fiscal responsibility. To that end, the REBOUND Act will save taxpayers $610 billion by repealing the spending portion of the so-called “stimulus” package and by prohibiting the Treasury Secretary from dispensing any further funds under the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP)—the infamous Wall Street Bailout.

Additionally, the REBOUND Act stipulates that all repayments of TARP funding will be used exclusively for debt reduction and not as a permanent slush fund for the Treasury Secretary. As American taxpayers are footing the bill for this program, it seems only fair that any funds collected be used to alleviate the crushing $11.4 trillion debt burden that threatens to stifle our country’s economic future.

With the government spending considerably more tax dollars than ever before, it is essential that your constituents feel they can trust you to wisely spend what you take from their earnings. FreedomWorks and our members nationwide will be closely watching support for H.R. 3140 as an indication of how seriously each Representative treats his or her fiduciary duty to the American taxpayers.

Please do not let them down.

Sincerely,

Matt Kibbe
President and CEO
