FreedomWorks Opposes Indiana Tax Increase

Governor Daniels past champion of small government reversing course to raise taxes.

In 2006 Governor Mitch Daniels was a hero to the taxpayers of Indiana when he demonstrated his strong commitment to free market principles and lead the fight to increase cable competition. This year it appears Governor Daniels is taking a step back with his support of Senate Bill 503. This bill would raise taxes on cigarette smokers to pay for a new program.

It’s Less Spending, Not More Taxes

Raising taxes to reduce the federal deficit is the last thing Americans need.

Dick Armey, former House majority leader, writes that high tax rates (particularly for corporations) threaten our country’s economic growth. The key, he says, is reduced spending.

Globalization has made tax rates competitive, with each nation vying for businesses. But the United States is falling behind and risks losing out as a result.
