FreedomWorks Helps Deliver Video Choice in Missouri

Grassroots pressure helps deliver passage of SB 284. Governor Blunt signs into law.

In a victory for consumers, Governor Blunt signed SB 284, the 2007 Video Service Providers Act, into law last Thursday. This bill will open the cable television market to competition, and consumers will benefit from better service and lower costs as providers compete for customers. Under the new law providers will apply for one statewide license instead of negotiating with 550 separate entities across the state.

FreedomWorks to Hold Event to Discuss Eminent Domain Supreme Court Case

FreedomWorks Missouri and Missouri Citizens for Property Rights are hosting a breakfast on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 7:30 AM to discuss the issue of Eminent Domain Reform. Ron Calzone, President of Missouri Citizens for Property Rights, will be speaking, and breakfast will be provided.

The primary purpose of government is to safeguard the inalienable rights of its citizens, which includes the right to own personal property without fear of being forced to part with it. Instead, the government has taken a “divine” role in the real estate industry.
