Texas considering government-run pre-k

Texas lawmakers are unfortunately considering a government-run universal pre-kindergarten bill this week. The folks at Texas Insider explain why this is a bad idea.

The Texas House recently got a first reading of House Bill 130, authored by Reps. Patrick, Eissler, Anchia, Pitts and Thompson.  HB 130 calls for “an enhanced full-day kindergarten program provided by public school districts in conjunction with community providers.”  A companion bill, SB 21, has been filed in the Senate by Zaffirini.

Tax day 'tea parties' stir passion in Dallas-Fort Worth

For now, it’s not about the war on terrorism, abortion or gay marriage.

The issue stoking outrage among thousands of conservatives across the country is runaway spending. And that’s why they chose Wednesday — tax day, April 15 — to hold “tea party” rallies nationwide.

Dozens of tea party rallies are being planned to oppose the Obama administration’s fiscal policies. At least 10 rallies are being planned in the Metroplex. Gov. Rick Perry is scheduled to attend the Fort Worth rally at LaGrave Field.
