Don't Let Liberals Pass Socailized Medicine Without a Fair Fight!

FreedomWorks Health Care Freedom Campaign Call to Action:

Those who want to see a socialized medicine system for the United States similar to what Canada and Cuba have are working hard to include in the final budget resolution that Congress will be voting on in a matter of weeks, a sneaky provision that would allow them to do it as part of budget "reconciliation;" a process requiring just 50 votes in the Senate instead of the traditional filibuster-protected margin of 60.

FreedomWorks has fought hard to thwart their efforts, and just before the April Easter Recess engaged a major campaign blitz that was successful in stripping out the health care provision from the Senate version of the budget, but not the House. READ MORE!

Now these two versions are headed to conference and it's critical that we put concerted pressure on the 8 Members of the Conference Committee (see below). These 8 legislators will ultimately decide whether Congress provides an opporunity to legitimately fight socialized medicing by requiring a filibuster-proof margin in the Senate, or if they will use their majorities in both chambers to ram through government-run health care.

PLEASE TAKE ACTION RIGHT AWAY!

Click HERE to download your own Healthcare Freedom Action Kit.  The materials in this kit will help you in contacting the offices of these targeted lawmakers and urging them not to allow Congress to create a backdoor for government-run healthcare.

Then click on the pictures of the targeted lawmakers below to access a toll-free hotline that will put you in contact with their district offices and tell them SNEAKING HEALTH CARE "RECONCILIATION" RULES IN DURING CONFERENCE IS UNACCEPTABLE.

Even if you don’t live in one of these legislators’ states or districts, it is still important that you call the offices of one or more of our targets.  And if you do live in one of the targeted lawmakers’ states or districts, please take the time to schedule a visit with their district staff.  In either case, let us know about the contacts that you make so that we can share your feedback with others.

There are so many comments here. Can someone tell me what you mean by "socialized medicine", and what proposals are suggesting it? From all I can find there is much discussion of "universal health care" - but that says nothing about how it will be paid for, or who will pay for it. It only means that everyone will have health care. It could be paid for by individuals, employers, the government, or some combination of all those. There is a little bit of conversation about "single payer", which is really "socialized insurance", where there is one source of coverage and payment for everybody - like Medicare, so everybody is under the same guidelines and all the forms and paperwork for our doctors are the same so it isn't so complicated. I haven't heard anybody talking about what I would think of as socialized medicine ( I guess the nearest comparison would be the VA system) where the doctors, clinics and hospitals are all owened by the government. Can somebody explain the terms, and the government proposals you are responding to?
Congress, I urge to to stop this fiscal irresponsibility! It is your duty to work for the American people! I was rudely hung up on when the Senator I was trying to reach was not of the state in which I reside! It shouldn't matter! WE PAY FEDERAL TAXES! Congress must listen to EACH American! We hired you! When will you listen to the voices of America?? Read the fine print to the legislation you sign and do not destroy our Liberties and Freedoms! This has to STOP! Quit obliterating your promise of fiscal accountability and responsibility by stopping this wasteful spenditure of taxpayer dollars! Our future generations depend on this. NO SOCIALISM. Do not socialize medicine! VOTE YES TO SENATOR DEMINT'S HEALTHCARE FREEDOM AMENDMENT!
Fear, stupidity, and greed have no place in this discussion. There's plent of all three to go around if you're talking about political parties and their associations. The point here is that socialized medicine is pure and simple "BAD FOR YOU HEALTH". This may be a slight exaggeration, but if you are well and are subsequently forced into a socialized medicine system you will no longer be well - instead, you will become terminally ill without hope of receiving any treatment to solve your medical problems. It's just a fact of life. Millions upon millions of people in Canada and England are dead proof of that fact. Ask any of the living. Why do so many Canadians cross the U.S. border for medical treatment? Their medical treatment at home is just not good OR available within a reasonable time. They even pay the full cost for some medical care the U.S. simply because if they don't take that route, they will surely die from lack of care. Some life-saving treatments we have in the U.S. aren't even available in either Canada or England. I personally don't want my medical choices to be reduced to that point. That's why I oppose socialize medicine. If I'm greedy because I want to spend as much time as I can alive, walking this earth, surrounded by my dearest friends and family, then count me as greedy, or stupid, or both. But denigrating me won't add one day to your life, whereas, top quality, available, and almost affordable health care, absent government control, WILL! So, this stupid, greedy, conservative will opt to continue paying obscene amounts of my hard-earned retirnement money (for which I labored long and hard over 59 years) to insure my continued ability to be stupid, greedy and conservative. If you want to pay for someone else's health care, you're more than welcomed to do so. Just don't ask me to do it with you. I'm not THAT stupid, but I FEAR you ARE!
I am truly sorry for you. I had prostate cancer as well. I followed a different treatment regimen. Fortunately, I had excellent PRIVATE medical insurance that covered a significant amount of the cost. I pay for that coverage because I planned ahead for my retirement and old age. I saw what happened to health care coverage costs and availability after the democrats passed Medicare and subsequently added more and more and more groups and inclusions to it. The costs skyrocketed while service began to degrade. I know because I worked for Social Security for 15 years, and watched premiums for the elderly climb from an initial monthly deduction of $2.00 to the present cost which eats away at every retiree's benefit check. Co-payments have increased, waiting times for services have increased, doctor availability has reduced, numbers of doctors have decreased, ad infinitum. Everything good about past health care has been reduced, and everything bad has been exacerbated due to Government intrusion into the health care field. Doctors increased their fees because of government forms completion, relgulations, reporting requirements, government oversight, ad nauseum. Is some of it necessary - yes. Is most of it redundant, costly, and ineffective - YES! So why add to the cost and lowering of health care cost and availability. As another commentor said, take a look at England's and Canda's social medicine systems. They are abysmal. Most people with truly serious illness die while waiting to be merely scheduled for treatment. The elderly die without even being considered for treatment. The mark of a country's greatness is gauged by its treatment of its young and its old. I give you abortion and socialized medicine - the two current popular methods of population control that supporters of socialized medicine propose. It's bad enough having to submit to some insurance company's so-called "medical experts" decisions as to whether you'll receive payment for certain medical treatments. The choices regarding personal healt care have been, are now, and always will be a matter for a patient and doctor to decide. With ample proof that socialized medicine is simply a total and abject failure, and YOU want to add the government to that already poisoned mix? You must be either thoughless or uninformed - most probably both! To my dying day, I say "NO" TO GOVERNMENT SOCIALIZED MEDICINE! It's bad for your health!
Republican fear of standing up to the left wingers - yes. Socialized medicine is not the answer. While it may cost you less for your treatments (and I can sympathize), overall the cost is greater in a system of socialized medicine. That cost could include you life. Since there is less access to medical care, longer wait times - not just to see the doctor on day of app't, but just to get appointments - you may not be able to start your treatments until it's too late. Look at the Canadians crossing the border and paying out of pocket because they have to wait 6 months to find out what that spot is on their brain, lung etc. if they get treated under their Canadian plan. Meanwhile the spot grows, and the person's health deteriorates. Is this what we want for us and our children. Get the gov't out of health care (and most other things), let the market work. Bring on tort reform so that you don't win a multi-million dollar lawsuit for the doctor leaving a scar when he did an emergency appendectomy, and stop giving "free" health care to illegals.
Following that line of logic, food should also be free to the individual and paid for by all of us collectively. Food and water are the most necessary products for humans. What about housing? Aren't we all entitled to shelter - we would die without it and we all use it. What about clothes? We need clothes to avoid exposure and we all use them. How about if clothes are free to the individual and paid for by the collective?
