FreedomWorks Ramps Up GOTV Headed into the Home-Stretch!

For the past few months, FreedomWorks has ramped up a nationwide Get Out The Vote (GOTV) program that has reached over one million people to date.  Our activists are injecting a pro-growth, limited government message into Congressional races, statewide ballot initiatives, as well as elections for state legislature and governor.

FreedomWorks has deployed seasoned field operatives to work in targeted races and is taking advantage of new ways to spread our message via the blogosphere and online video-sharing through websites like YouTube.

Across the country, FreedomWorks volunteers are working to make sure our issues are at the forefront of the political debate.  With less than two weeks left before Election Day, an update on what some of our most active chapters have been doing thus far is noted below.

Ø      In California, we are fighting two different tax hikes, propositions 86 and 87.  Our volunteers have handed out more than 2500 flyers at events around the state, urging Californians to reject these new taxes on gas and tobacco.

Ø      In Oregon we are pushing hard for a tax cut for families.  Despite the efforts of the usual suspects, including the teachers’ unions, Oregonians are growing tired of the lack of accountability in the state government, and are ready for real tax relief.

Ø      In Washington we are educating thousands of voters about the records and viewpoints of both Senate candidates.  The race has national implications and features a candidate who has pledged to support personal retirement accounts.

Ø      In Oklahoma, FreedomWorks leaders are educating voters on both the gubernatorial race and the state auditor race.  Through strategy calls, candidate forums and literature drops, our Oklahoma chapter is spreading the message of the movement for lower taxes, less government and more freedom in these campaigns.

Ø      In Michigan our local chapter has placed hard-hitting billboards across the state highlighting the poor economic policies advanced by the current governor.  They have also reached over 45,000 voters with a pro-free market message, by speaking at events and going door-to-door dropping off literature.

Ø      In South Carolina our members are educating voters on the gubernatorial candidates and congressional candidates.  Our volunteers have been going door-to-door in the 5th congressional district letting voters know where the candidates stand.

Ø      In North Carolina FreedomWorks members have gone door-to-door all over the state and have reached more than 50,000 households with a pro-free market message.  They have focused on two congressional races and two state legislature races.

Ø      In Vermont, FreedomWorks leaders are gathering signatures for a Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights and are continuing to battle against a proposed socialist universal pre-kindergarten system.  Our Vermont state director has become one of the leading voices this campaign season for limited government and fiscal restraint in Montpelier.

No doubt FreedomWorks’ nationwide grassroots army has already taken our voter education efforts to new heights, but we want to do even more.  Between now and election day we will redouble our efforts and reach more than 2 million people with our message of lower taxes, less government and more freedom.

From the beaches of California to the hills of North Carolina freedom is on the march! Our volunteers are taking time out of their busy schedules to fight for a cause that we all believe in, because freedom works.
