One family’s Obamacare nightmare

BY Pattie Curran

As the mother of two chronically ill children, I have long faced high health care costs. My sons suffer from a rare bone-marrow failure syndrome called Shwachman-Diamond syndrome and have secondary mitochondrial disease that requires treatment with a broad range of expensive medications. We averaged $10,000 to $12,000 a year in billed out-of-pocket medical expenses before Obamacare became law. In 2013, we incurred just over $27,000 in out-of-pocket medical expenses. President Obama’s signature piece of legislation has more than doubled our yearly medical costs.

Blue States Singing the Obamacare Blues

States that helped carry President Obama to victory in 2012, are now suffering at the hands of his signature legislation. Democrats hoping to avoid the repercussions of Obamacare are going to have a difficult time explaining away its failures in their own friendly states. Republicans are referring to it as the Blue State Obamacare Blues, with Colorado, Hawaii, Washington D.C., Oregon, Maryland, and Massachusetts all suffering varying degrees of embarrassment.

Oregon Democrat Lawmakers React To Failures Of Obamacare and Cover Oregon

It's been a rough couple of months for Congressional members from Oregon who rammed the massive health care bill down our throats. You see, the Democrats who are up for reelection in 2014 have this signature legislation that is colloquially referred to as Obamacare.

Obamacare Forces Bonnie Doon Ice Cream to Close

Two things which I take very seriously are freedom and ice cream. Imagine my disappointment when I heard that Bonnie Doon ice cream was going out of business because they could not survive under Obamacare.

Obamacare: Fundamentally Bad Design, Website Included

The technical problems with the implementation of the (Abdominable) Affordable Care Act are becoming the stuff of legend. The entire thing should be rebuilt. But that will not save the ACA, because the underlying policies and political pressures that have caused the problems are even worse than the systems so far created to deliver it.
