The View From NY 23

It's only 6:30 am, but already folks are outside the hotel waving signs and encouraging honks from cars for their favorite candidates.  In about twenty minutes, we'll be joining them in the rain to hand out voter ed pieces at nearby polling places.Yesterday, FreedomWorks got the candidate side-by-side in the hands of several hundred voters as we pounded the pavement of Watertown on what turned out to be a beautiful, if fleeting, sunny day.  The side-by-side highlights the differences in where the now two congressional candidates stand on essential economic issues like cap

The report provides an analysis of aspects of the bill that have previously gone overlooked: Increased fuel prices and their effect on consumers. According to the report, Waxman-Markey will increase fuel costs by more than $3.6 trillion over the life of the bill.

Obama Misses the Mark on Climate Change Policy

Today, President Obama spoke before the United Nations to address the issue of climate change. In a speech in which he highlighted the United States’ record on energy policy, the president also called on other nations to join him in his “urgent” fight against climate change. Seen by many as a lead-in to this week’s G20 Summit and December’s climate summit in Copenhagen, the speech revived President Obama’s domestic energy initiatives at a time when most of the public debate has been dominated by health care.

Liberty Summit Officially Awesome

Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma helped kick off the Liberty Summit this morning over at the D.C. Armory.  Over 1500 people turned out for a great event.  Check out the video and pictures below. One caveat, I was running around all morning and didn't have a chance to take many pictures, but pictures from real photographers and a full report will be coming soon.

Recap: The 2009 Steamboat Institute Inaugural Freedom Conference

I’ve just returned from a few days in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado, including attending in (and briefly speaking at) the inaugural Steamboat Institute Freedom Conference.  (I encourage you to read the 4 newspaper articles linked to throughout this note.) Although the event was a first-attempt effort by my Leadership Program of the Rockies Advisory Board colleague, Jennifer Schubert-Akin, you’d never know.  The weekend was remarkable and, from my vantage point, essentially flawless.

Rep. Moran and Howard Dean Town Hall

When Rep. Jim Moran and Howard Dean teamed up to hold a town hall last night in Reston, some FreedomWorks staff and friends went too. After all, we are his constituents.  We arrived far too late to get inside (a long Metro commute and 9/12 preparations don't lend themselves to timeliness), but had a great time talking with folks outside about FreedomWorks, the March on Washington, and the need to make sure cap and trade isn't lost in all the health care discussion.  Below are some pics of the night.
