GOP Contenders Should Run on Ending Mass Incarceration

Agreement on big issues in Congress seems like a rarity, but there is growing support to address the crisis of mass incarceration from Republicans and Democrats alike. Even the GOP presidential contenders agree that the “war on drugs” has failed.

Better Late than Never: Christie Turns on Common Core

Say what you will about Republican governors, eventually they catch on. Well, most of them do, anyway (I’m looking at you, Jeb.)The latest addition to the ever-expanding number of governors turning against Common Core education standards is New Jersey’s own Chris Christie

Chris Christie’s Position on NSA Spying Is "Ridiculous."

Gov. Chris Christie has never been a particularly distinguished champion of freedom, but his recent comments and outright defense of the NSA’s illegal spying program was eyebrow raising even for him.

Republicans Want to Give Obama More Power? Why Do We Lose Elections?

In the constant stream of pixels, ions, electrons and hot air that passes by at a constant and overwhelming rate that is akin to the speed of light, two articles caught my attention on Wednesday. The latest waste of attention is on the looming sequester cuts that are set to hit on Friday, that would have the 'devastating' effect of cutting $85 Billion in budget increases from a non-budget that is already over a trillion in the hole.

State Exchanges and the Cost of ObamaCare

In his second inaugural address on January 21, 2013, President Barack Obama stated that “we must make the hard choices to reduce the cost of health care and the size of our deficit.” With regard to health care, all indications are that the price of health insurance will increase as a result of ObamaCare, with the federal government attempting to pass along these costs to the states by asking them to implement state-run health insurance exchanges.

A Romney/Walker/Daniels/Christie/Jindal/McDonnell/Martinez Ticket May Be The Path To Victory

As we move inexorably closer to the date of the most important presidential election of the 21st century, small government, free market devotees find themselves caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Absent a governing record that inspires, what can Mitt Romney do to cement some support from the base beyond being the less unpalatable of the two main choices?Bill Kristol has an idea.

NJ Legislature Passes Major Pension and Benefit Reform

On Thursday evening, the New Jersey assembly passed a landmark bi-partisan overhaul of the public employee benefit and pension system.  The bill passed the assembly by a 46-32 vote with 14 Democrats voted with Republicans for the bill. Now all that is needed is a signature from Governor Christie who has already touted the success of the bill’s passage.
